Water leakage and extensive damage - what to do?

Just to add to this tread ...been an owner for years and never had issues (tempting fate) with water ingress in any of the Boxsters 986x2 /987x2 /981 x1 could someone post pictures as to where the drain holes are on the 981 as this gets used in the wet , The issue is if you have to get access to the front lid cover will require the removal of the Ctek battery connection before the tray can be completely removed as the cable is passed through the tray .where are the drain holes next to battery looked in and nothing visible ,also where are the ones in the rear and how do you access them ,a link to a vid would be good have a long length of net curtain wire to use .thanks in advance .

Just watched a vid showing drain rear hole and pouring water down it and pours out on the ground back and front surely you push some roading down first to clear any possible blockage if you have a blockage surely pouring water down will only add to the problem of wet carpets or am I missing some thing .

Access to the main drains is easy once you slightly close the hood. Trombone cleaners work well first then just run a bit of water through.

My CTEK exits through the hand grills openings so no need to do anything with the CTEK connector.

This was a fault my 981 had when owned by the previous owner who only owned the car because of this for 3 months before selling it back to the selling OPC.

When the OPC fixed the car they removed the "tea strainer" filters that sit at the top of the roof drain tubes, it was these that blocked up with leaf debris when owned by the original owner and caused the rainwater to overflow into the cabin damaging the body ecu beneath the passenger seat.

Every so often, I retract the roof, stop it about halfway, then with an air gun with an extension tube I blow compressed air down through the drain tubes to make sure they are not blocked. The top of the drain tubes are more difficult to see and get access to than the 987 which i had before my 981.

My car lives in a garage, but if it is outside for any considerable time I now use a Cabrioshield cover to cover and protect the soft top and prevents any debris/water entering any of the rear drainage tubes. There are some drain tubes at the front too from the engine bay apparently.

Pictures are those of the water found in the car when carpets and seat stripped out, taken by the OPC, and the tea strainer filter. Difficult to see but there is actully water sloshing about in the well beneath the seat, lapping around the body ECU. The ECU was shot, a local multiconnector was corroded so new cables were spliced in, new ECU plus new remote keys fobs.

Isn't it crazy that a man would feel the need to sell the months old car due to this poor design?

Washed my 987.2 today and opened the roof 50% and checked the drains. No leaf build up, bit odd as the car is in direct line of fire of 3 BIG trees that have shed about 40% of the leaves.

Ran water down each drain, all clear (ie rapid drainage of flushing water).

The side drains by the top of the B post were tested and clear. I did the battery compartment pair a month ago when charging the battery.

Not difficult, not even messy as long as they are all clear, takes about 15 mins to do the lot, but on such a car should you really need to do this?
