We Meet Again...

Ex Skyline

New member
..well, sort of [:)]. I'm not making a come back here, you'll be pleased to hear and, the '44 Turbo is now just a distant memory [8|].
I am not missing it and, another one is defo' not on the cards. My PCGB membership has lapsed and, it is most unlikely that I will
re-join anytime soon so, you're all safe [;)]. However, whilst moving house six weeks ago, I came across a parcel, unopened in my
garage. It is a outdoor car cover for the 944 marque which my wife bought me as a Christmas pressie a couple of years ago which,
I had forgotten about [8|]!! This is now, obviously, surplus to requirements and, is up for grabs for not much dosh. I will put up a
brief ad' in the correct section so as not to upset the moderators [8|]. As for this post, I just wanted to say hello to everyone and,
wish you all the best for the coming season (can't wait for Le Mans [8D] !!). See you up the road! Cheers guys [:)].

Pete' (Ex 944 [:D][:D][:D]).

Hi Pete, good to see (!) you again. Hope that whatever replaced the 944 is giving you the kicks that the 944 failed to do. I'm guessing it's something Japanese .... non? You could post up a photo or two of it - after all, it wouldn't be against the rules and we all like looking at photos!

Best of luck selling the cover. And, as Martin said, do drop in from time to time.

Oli.

Hi all, car cover sold within five minutes of posting! Unbelievable. It was only a bl00dy car cover!![:D]. I hope you are all keeping
well and, enjoying your cars. Oli mate, no more Jap cars for me although, I was offered a mental Skyline R34 with 800 bhp [8D]!!
Sarah went berserk and so, that was that [:(]. I am looking for a 964 in very good condition at the moment [8D]. Has to be Black,
preferably a Turbo (if I can afford it)[&:]!! It may take a while to find but, I most certainly will (unless a Caterham R400 hi-jacks
me before I find the 964 [;)])! At the moment, it is now down to my 200bhp (Black), T4 van. That really is the mutz nutz!!
God Bless you all chaps. I hope you all manage to keep your licences and, hope to meet up with a few of you at Le Mans in June [8D]
[8D]!! Keep my number for future chats, meets, Jap' lager [:D]. 07785-527782.

By the way, the chap who got the car cover don't need the Haynes Workshop manual or 944 brochure. First person to text me their
address, gets them stuck in the post. On the house [;)][:D].

Pete' (Ex 944 [:D][:D][:D]).

Hmm.....this is starting to become a habit AGAIN [8|]!! Anyways, lovely to chat to you chaps once more. Actually, I'm after a
bit of advice from the more knowledgeable of you guys on here. This is my problem, basically, I'm missing not having a Porsche
and going to Porsche meetings [:(]. Trying to find a nice 964 in good nick and for the right money is like trying to find the Holy
Grail!! Another 944 is out of the question as, I wouldn't get another one better than the one I sold, especially in Black, and as I
have said before, it just didn't quite do it for me [8|]. So, I have started to think along the lines of a 968. There is a particularly
nice one for sale on Pistonheads locally (Kent), which is in the best colour (Black) [8D], It is a Club sport, done 100,000 miles, is
running on 18" Tech-art rims (Black) and, going by the very small write up, Is the best thing since sliced bread. But, are they?
I know nothing about them really. Are they a good road/track car? I know Mark races one. Do they come in Turbo form? Is there a
valid reason that they are so much more expensive than the 944 even though they look pretty much the same? Would YOU have
one given the opportunity? Etc, etc. You get the picture. Any advice you can give me would be very gratefully received. The one
I have seen is going for £17.5k. Is it worth the money? There is only one photograph and I have texted the owner asking him for
a few more. So far he hasn't got back to me but, it's early days yet! Thanks chaps [:D]!! Hope you are all keeping well.
HAPPY EASTER [:D][:D]!!

Pete' (Ex Skyline).

Hi Pete, you've picked a real chestnut there.

Many people describe the 968 as a 944 S3, lots of small improvements which add up to a more modern and smoother car. On paper it doesn't add up to much - heavier than an S2, same interior, way slower than a Turbo. You really need to drive one to see if it floats your boat, the engine sounds much nicer and the gearbox is way crisper.

The 968 came out in the early 90's recession and hardly any sold so there are few on the ground, this explains their pricing. The Clubsport didn't even reach the 200 mark in this country (a true expert can reveal the proper figure) so they command a real premium but many argue that the Sport is exactly the same car and chassis, but with a few options added on.

There was a Turbo model but only 17 LHD roadgoing versions were made with 305bhp, so will be slower than your Turbo and will be circa £50k at least. There were 4 Turbo RS built for the racetrack and you can probably add another 0 at the end if you find the one that raced at Le Mans

Peter, in a word YES ! if it is tidy and can be made better, handle really well and the engines are great, loads of low down torque, but no Boooost ! plus it will not lose any money..........++

Thank you for your very informative replies Paul and Jim' [:)]. Yes, I guess I would have to drive one first of all so that I didn't
"jump out of the frying pan and, into the fire" for a second time [8|]!! I must say, I am intrigued at the moment. Would it "float
my boat"? I really couldn't say at the moment Paul [:)]. I'll wait to see if the owner responds to my text message. I will keep you
posted if he does. Cheers guys!
Pete'.

HAPPY EASTER [:D][:D]!!

Pete' (Ex Skyline).

This car is a Sport rather than a Clubsport (though there is same vin number series for each I think or something like that) so technically its not one if the uk delivered 179 odd cs's. sport is rare in its own right though

This car was sold a year or so ago through rpmtechnik so might be worth talking to them. It then was advertised not long after through pcgb and now its up for sale again......... Hmm ....worth investigating why it's changed hands so often in short period of time

JZM just sold a nice red 968 cs in about 24 hrs just this week for £21k ish. £17.5k is probably ok if it's mint

There is someone selling a very nice Sport on 968uk that might be worth a look

As always go in with your eyes wide open. I had two Sports inspected by PM late last year as I away keen to get one and both had major issues and one was a total nail even though it had £6k spent on it recently........... [8|]

I know a black 968CS that's being serviced and sorted before being put up for sale - I'll ask what the price s likely to be if you wish Pete?

Porsche Portsmouth have a red 968 that although not advertised is for sale . Really is immaculate with 75000 miles, I believe just over £20,000 would secure it. Nice to be able to buy a 968 through a main dealer again !

Hi again chaps [:)]. Ok, Colin, yes defo' going to le mans! Must get drunk with you [:D]!! Andrew Churcher, Solid advice mate and,
IF I do go for a 968, I will definitely remember your words [;)]. Dave, YES PLEASE mate! Do keep me informed if it does go up for
sale and, the asking price. I don't think I would go to 20k for a 968. I think I would rather hang on for a 964 C2 (in Black of course)
but, who knows? Never say "Never" [;)]!! Mr Waylander, thank you kindly for the offer of a drive in your lovely 968 mate! Where
abouts in West Essex are you, should I need to take you up on it? Scott and sgl 1966, me in a Yellow car.....I don't think so [:(]. It
would remind me of Custard, which I hate!! Red would remind me of Man Utd and Liverpool of whom, I nurture the same feelings
for [:'(] [:'(]!! But, thank you so much for your help and interest in this post [:D]. Thank you all very much indeed. I have always
preferred the Whoosh-Bang of a Turbo charged car in fact, my last six cars have been such aspirated. Maybe it's time I had a
change [8|]? I certainly could not afford a 964 Turbo. A decent one would cost circa 80 grand []!! So, it would have to be a C2 if,
I went the 911 route. Decisions, decisions!! I'm in no rush [:D]. Thank you chaps.

Pete' [8D]

That car has been bought, not all it's cracked up to be and returned to the dealer for a refund

What, the Red one in Portsmouth or, the Black one I'm "curious" about?
