Weather's getting colder...

Soberingley cold this AM. Winter wheels/tyres fitted, sundry updates (incl fuel flap lock) and safety checks. All FOC incl coffee.

This is the temps your tyres were seeing this morning (5th Nov 2013):

Winter tip for Southern soft-toppers - use your M&S underwear as tyre blankets ;)

... 2 weeks and no jokes about driving on seats of pants, fur coats or highland dress.....

Try this for a winter warmer. Winter tyres, top down and about -2 degrees. Fit for skiing this weekend?

Note how the spray line stays below the window line, rear deck stays clear too.

If you like the wildlife the red deer (sans woollies) are looking grand at the moment..

...a small covey, just on the snowline, on an adjacent hill (Morrone). A rare site for Southern soft-toppers ;)

FBR - Terrific, we don't get Capercaillies down south either. Any chance? Sorry, I forgot, this is a car forum!!.

Capercaillies are about, but getting scarce. I have been clip-clopped this year but sorry no current pictures.

Tenuously staying on topic here's another picture of one of our other winter animals just coming into white, and I think these can be found South of the border.

PS ..and young Dyllan from sunny South Wales did ask if I lived in the 'friggin artic'. Maybe he is coming to see that Scotland is much bigger and varied than most Southern Soft-toppers seem to think. I blame it on the distorted projection of the BBC weather map! ;)

In amongst all this proliferation of winter wildlife I keep forgetting to recommend the 981 Porsche interior rubber mats, the rear boot tray and the front boot box. All are well made and are of a good fit and easy to clean. Ideal for protection against wet or snowy footwear and iced up climbing gear. Rear boot useful for pre-heating footwear and outer clothing and drying it out afterwards.

As I'm sure you all know, the other essential is good soft-top weather proofing, it helps to stop the snow/ice sticking to the roof & stops wetting out and limits any problems with frozen roofs. Vents within the soft-top storage space appear to allow warm air to circulate further dis-inhibit icing and aids drying.

Does anybody else use their Boxster in the winter? Pictures (preferably original & not nicked off PH!)?

best wishes
