According to the manual kerb weight is 1310kg
There are four sets of figures on the VIN

1650kg
2850kg
1. 0740kg
2. 0930kg

Not sure what these are?

Mine, as measured on 25/08/04 :

- '90 944 S2
- Air con
- Targa
- 1/3 tank of fuel
- No additionnal weight, no removed weight (car empty, rear seats still in place back then, since then were promptly thrown away somewhere in the garage [:)]).
- Car fitted with 100 % Porsche 944/968 parts except a Car Graphic strut brace.

FL : 334 kg FR : 348 kg
RL : 323 kg RL : 347 kg

Total : 1352 kg

My manual says 1350 Kg as well.

Noting the Beaky is a 220 '88 spec car, the increase in weight must be through:-

Reasonably big blacks,
928s4 discs
LSD?
ICE?
Transmission oil cooler
Bigger wheels
3 button electric seats
Bigger sway bars - as so much more accurate term than ARB's [;)]

Most of the above I have now retro fitted so I have little doubt the Beaky will be well on his way to 1400 if not more.

Why would one manual say 1310kg and the other 1340 kg for the S2. Were revisions made to the car in later years of manufacture? My 89 says 1310kg (Non Cat).

I think you've just answered your own question! the addition of a CAT alone would add a good few kilos, plus the standard options might have changed in 1990. I know there were revisions in the supension at that time too, so that could add up to more. Maybe there were more options avaliable too, so adjusted the figures to an average that reflected that. All that aircon, stereo upgrades and elec seats add up to a big gain in weight!

Took car to weighbridge - 92 S2

Half Tank of Fuel
4 Cd's ( Scissor Sisters, Enimen, Marron 5 & The Carpenters !! )
1 Pair of Sunglasses
1 Newspaper ( Telegraph )
2 packets of crisps
13p in change
Air Freshner
Tyre Inflator
Pair of Footie Boots & Shinpads
American Football

And the car
Total Weight - 1393kg

That is a pretty horrible contents list Chris - I'm not sure I would have admitted to having half of those things in my car.

People on this forum can be quite unkind at times and I'm a little worried that we've only just begun [:D]

I love the Carpenters.
Maybe the weight would be less with lighter reading material. Then my weight may be Close to you[;)]

I love the Carpenters.

I think I've got a Whitesnake and an early Clapton CD in Beaky so that would make him quite heavy.

There's very little weight in The Carpenters so that shouldn't have made a lot of difference.

Edited because I'm illiterate -well I think that's what my parents said.

I haven't weighed my cab, but since it's got my iPod in it and that has 5,000+ tracks of mainly heavy rock it must weigh tonnes.
