Were there any changes during the Gen 1 997 turbo

ORIGINAL: unclewinks

Hi Doug
Hope your well.
Tanya and I bought the car at 41600,a few miles in two years
Just renewed the warranty, small issue with a overrev.
We do plan on changing this year,we might be looking at another gen 1 with much less miles in black
or a gen 2 depends the house is still not finished
Regards
Paul

Very nice to hear from you again [:)]

Black can be a pain sometimes (as you know !!) but so long as you look after it, I still think it looks good. Mine is 6 yrs old now and still looks like this (took these last week when the snow melted and the sun finally came out);

Fancy a Gen2 GT3 at some point....not just yet though [;)]

Looks stunning, black is a hard colour to keep clean but it is one of those colours
when it is washed and waxed you know it.
Problem with ours it sits outside,This year we will be putting for planning for a car shelter
to keep the old girl clean and dry[:)] the car can come in the living room with me[:D]

Hi Doug
Just out of interest what was the cause of your belt noise,
Mine squealed when cold a new belt seems to have sorted it .

Hiya,

Was a loose mounting on the AC compressor allowing it to move slightly (then pulley was out of line with the drive belt). Took a while to diagnose it but was a simple fix in the end.

Cheers,

Doug.

Hi Oggy.

If you don't mind me asking, how come you've done so few miles in it?

No problem at all,

Purely a combination of family life, work commitments + it's a 3rd car (and my 3rd child [:D]).

Every time I do drive it (like have been doing today), just blows me away....evidently not to everyone's taste but still does it for me.

Planning to get more use out of it this year, starting with 'Porsches on the Prom' later this month [:)]

Good luck with the search, that 2007 car does look lovely !

Thanks. I guess there are a number of people with a similar scenario to yourself as there a quite a few low mileage examples around. Your car looks good in black (works much better than black on the Spyder somehow[8|]) I'd like some Sport Classic wheels but I think I may have read that they are heavier than the forged turbo wheels.

Unclewinks, mine would have to live outside, which is concerning me. Then the thread about car covers made me realise they're not an option for me as the car would not be clean every day, so the cover would scratch it. Is there anything in particular driving you to getting a shelter for it? Thanks

Tractors passing it everyday.not so bad now with a few coats of wax on it,Just last year the weather
was so bad I couldn't get out to give it the tlc it deserves.
This year it will have more professional work done, on the bodywork to protect it.
Starting with a front end respray after we come back from the south of France tour.
Paul
Sutton coldfied opc has 2008 gen 1 10800 miles in black,£54995 looks good

My Turbo lived outside all of it's life, come rain and shine....
OK the crest on the bonnet did fade [:'(], but the brakes seemed to have less rust on them and the battery lasted a full 4 years before failure.
I did think the high ventilation saved as many issues as it was supposed to create..[:)]

All these supercars living outdoors is not what I expected[:D] It's good to hear that they're no worse off for it though[:)]
So, what is taking pride of place in the garage(s) that is leaving the turbo out in the cold fella's?[:)]

Paul, any reason you're going for another gen 1?

barn conversion to be finished,14 animals to cater for
also I think 480 horses pumping around the southwest roads is quite enough
most of all there are some bargains around, like the one I put on earlier.

Paul

How about a GT2 you know you want one !!!! [:D]

6 handbags, 10 pairs of shoes, 8 dresses and a couple of horses should do it :ROFLMAO:

Geoff

Sorry guys,forgot to mention Tanya
Al Bundi springs to mind[&o]
GT2 would be good but I think Tanya is a bit afraid of it being two wheel drive only
I do seem to get the turbo side ways a bit

Hiya,

Cheers [:)]

Tailpipes were from Design 911. Direct replacement for the std items (no messing required, just one bolt each side).
