What’s the best phone holder for the 718 cayman

Thank you for the link mate - will check it out... do you know if the bit that fits between the slats on the vents small enough not to bend them?

Mine certainly was absolutely fine. I had a Kenu Airframe which has now been superceeded but it fitted like a charm, and the parts that attached to the air vents were rubber coated.

hi all ??

Just wondering have you got any good suggestions for a smart looking iPhone holder that fits somewhere in the 718 cayman. I use apple car play a lot and due to the nature of my work I have a lot of calls come through and use google maps most of the time. Because I need to plug the phone in I can’t keep it in my pocket, if I put it in the storage under the arm rest it bangs and slides about... and if I put it on the seat it slips around and usually ends up somewhere under the passenger Seat. I bought a magnetic one with a clip that slides between the vents in the air con/heater grills but I think it causes stress on the slates and I don’t want to bend them or cause any damage.

just curious if anyone is using a mount that works well and what brand it is.

Well, that was a very timely post Mark … I just happen to be looking for the same for an iPhone in my 987.2!

Thanks for the link Dave. The double prongs look as though it will be more stable than some of the single prong devices. 👍

Good to know Mark. I was thinking that a magnetic holder would be a neater option, but I reckon that the clip will be more secure in a firmly-suspended sports car.

Jeff

Incidentally Mark, what charger are you using? I have an iPhone 12 Mini and require a USB-C supply for cable compatibility.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I just use a usb to lightning cable… at the moment I plug it in the USB port in the arm rest storage.

isnt the iphone 12 still a lightning cable?

I was given to understand that it is much better to place the phone in the arm rest space as there is some sort of relay to give you better phone reception there. My phone is in a leather case doesn’t bang around at all in the arm rest - using the expensive but so well designed genuine Porsche coiled cable works very well too.

Genuine coiled Porsche cable ? 🤔🙂… now that sounds very interesting, just having a google for it now… I think you may be right there + its probably the best place to put it to minimise any distraction - only problem is that it really gets thrown about in there if one undertakes some spirited driving 😬🙂

Yes, it is Mark. But its power cable is USB-3 (for a 20W power adapter) and my 987.2 CS doesn’t have a USB socket or Bluetooth … old tech!

Jeff

Very comprehensive! Probably a simple single-socket device will suffice … I’ll have to have browse online.

Cheers,

Jeff

I swear by Brodit https://www.brodit.co.uk

I have one in my Macan and I have another kit ready to go into my Spyder when it arrives from the factory in the next 10 days

No screws or drilling and can be removed without leaving a mark

Plus its solid and well engineered, nothing flimsy.

I would almost say unbreakable

You pay for what you get

You can still use a normal usb type-A to lightning with zero issues Apple only add the USB Type- C to lightning as USB-C is now more common on PC's due to its faster data transfer speeds. However to charge or even play music and or use Car Play those speeds are not required. I have an iPhone 12max which is connects in my Macan via a USB-A . No issues at all.

Had a brows on this site - they have some fantastic mounts to be fair - may well be putting in an order - cheers for the link 🙂

Quadlock system is the best imo for older cars.

for new cars the armrest where is it designed to go, then run Apple car play on the PCM and keep the phone 100% charged.
