What’s the best phone holder for the 718 cayman

On my 981 (same on 718 I think) I use a Brodit ProClip with a small ball-type magnetic mount on it. The ProClip just slides over the trim panel alongside the gear lever and the phone mounts on top. No marks, no strain on any dash components, no obscuring of ventilation slots. Use a black cable from the armrest power point (the armrest closes over it, no problem) to keep the phone charged.

The Brodit system looks well-engineered and secure … with a built-in phone connector to boot! 👍

Interesting to note that although there’s an option to have it mounted high-up on the air grille on the 987 (useful for Google Maps, etc.), that option’s not available for the 981 where it’s centre console mounted.

Thanks for the input chaps.

I think to be honest this is the best solution - It's what I do at the moment... thing is I think it would be a little better if the phone was displayable but again its just another distraction that could cause issues.

Ive been thinking and having a look around and I think potentially the best solution is a coiled usb to lightning cable or a short cable. The problem with the armrest usb is you tend to find a continual fight between plugging the phone in and fighting with the wire to get it in there all neat and tidy. The apps on apple car play all work perfectly through the screen so have purchased this...

Reason being is that I bought another mount for the grill but still causing the slats to bend and I really don't want to cause any damage.

Yep I think your right there mate …. Purchased a coiled lightning cable and it fits perfectly and without fighting to get the wire neatly tucked away 😂
