Why on God's green earth would anyone with a lovely, well modified 944 Turbo swap it for a Boxster of all things? The only thing the two cars share at any level is the badge. Boxsters are IMO generally bought by people who want the badge first and foremost and the car second, 944 Turbos are not. Ever.

Having Fen on the forum is such a pleasure. You can always look to him to say exactly what he thinks. [;)]

Hi Scooby' welcome to the forum. Ignor Fen, he is a grumpy old man. However, hair dressing tool storage aside,[:-] [:D] why would anyone want to swap a perfectly good car with one designed to empty its sump without provocation. 944's are classic cars, mine is 15 years old with 170k on the clock. I'm afraid I have little confidence that many Boxsters will be making that claim in 10 to 15 years from now.

I would take issue with part of Fen's comment. The 944 has excellent dynamic ballance and handling. As I understand, the Boxster is blessed with simillar charicteristics.

BTW Scooby, can I assume from your handle that you have an afinity with a Japanees 4WD rally car.....Fen has little good to say about them either. Is that right that they are less likely to reach 170k on their original engine than a Boxster?

I'd say drop the 1 from the front and your Scooby statement is just as valid.

Also I didn't say the Boxster didn't handle. I have driven several, most notably at Thruxton, and I know that they drive well (if a little pedestrian if not the S version). My point is that they are ugly, soulless and far more often than not bought for the badge than the right reasons. Bit like the Scooby then...
