What do you like most about your turbo

I can't make up my mind which is the best feature of my 996TT:

1. When I decide to really try (which is only once or twice a day[;)]), then the fact that everything rapidly becomes small in the rear view mirror, and only what is in front of me matters (a 100% fully focussed experience - nothing else intrudes on your thoughts). The gap you can open, especially away from traffic lights is sometimes funny, if not a little alarming and somewhat licence threatening. The sound that accompanies 6000rpm with your foot into the carpet.
The fact that this then gets some respect from other road users who can't quite believe what has just happened. Since I am quite restrained, and the transition catches them unawares.

2. The ease and lack of stress with which normal motoring is conducted, since overtaking, pulling out, joining motorways, sure footedness, braking, the seamless power, make it fuss free.

3. The way the roadholding, traction, balance, and communication from the controls, inspire such confidence.

4. The fact that it pretty much lives up to my expectations (aside from some rattles and squeaks). After years of spin and marketing b*llshit, it is the real deal and that I really do genuinely like it.

What are your thoughts?

Point 1, from an ownership point of view.[8D]
Point 2, even more so, as it's this that makes it such a pleasure to use..

When I really floor it in 2nd I always laugh out loud, or swear, always one of the two.

It's so easy to clean [:D]

I need to refrain from driving it for a good few days and then get back in it. It just feels so much quicker. Second gear....feed that throttle in....feel the power....oooooh

Sheer adrenalin inducing grunt, yes 2nd gear is the boyo!!
Interacting with the car on a B road blast, it IS a real drivers car.
Road holding, cornering g-forces, "surefooted" wet or dry.
All round ability, cruise comfortably enjoying the Bose & other toys, or as above.
Functionality & useability, it is the supercar you CAN use every day.
A hard car to replace, over 3 years now & can't find a new toy to replace it!!!

All that's been said plus that warm feeling as you blast past a 360 / Galliardo / DB9 bought on credit, stranded on the hard shoulder, with it's over-bonused banker owner screaming at his PA / wife / mistress to call the effing AA.....

I think Lee has split loyalties.
He is a 964RS fan at heart, who thinks the turbo a "tub of lard".
We need to fight our corner and be wary of those in our midst who would scheme against us[;)].

Who cares about tracks, there can be only one king of the road.

Oh dear...done like a kipper.....exposed.....You die hard Turbo boys aren't supposed to visit other threads that contain track talk.

Listen......I actually love the TT..........but don't tell the others []

I'm lulling them into a false sense of security, then I'll turn up at the next track day in the TT............[&:]

His allways been a two faced little so and so .................

Used to set off the fire alarm at school, then take the teacher in an apple !!

I'm totally shocked how [;)], in context not far out though [], although I may sell mine after SimonExtreme has sussed us all out.....
"And who wants a 996 Turbo? as has been said, an overweight tub of lard aimed at impresionable people with more money than sense[;)] "

I completely agree with him [:D]

[][;)]

what do i like best about my turbo............ how about the fact thats its paid for ! ..
no seriously .. the noise !

Hear hear. And the fact that it shrinks round you and you feel totally connected.
A pocket rocket.
Not sure about the 996 though (runs for cover).

I forgot on of the most important points - the view in the side mirrors of the rear wheel arches.
I love the fact that I do not see the vertical side of the car, like all other cars, but a horizontal piece of bodywork.

I also like the way it responds so positively to being driven assertively.
One of my worries when I bought it was whether I would be able to drive it hard enough, since it needs to be properly used to keep everything healthy.
My advice is not to be timid, but grab it by the scruff-of-the-neck and drive it (where conditions allow of course).
If you lack the confidence to do so, then get yourself on one of the Porsche driving experiences.

what do i like best about my Turbo [:-] well apart from the tomato red leather interior....

that moment when the turbo kicks in, the trouble is thats its addictive and my license is at risk.......is there a cure?
