I was just browsing around ebay this morning looking at 944 stuff (as you do) and came across this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Electric-Supercharger-Turbo-Kit-Porsche-944_W0QQitemZ120070171263QQihZ002QQcategoryZ36680QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

They also have a website at www.electronicturbosystems.com

What do people think?

Load of crap. A bit like the fantastic resistor mod.

Ooh, magic power for nothing - if that was the case why aren't they on every new car made!

I agree , absolute pony ! there was another company called turbozet ( i think ) that made a similar mod.

This is the reply I was given when I asked them how much volume the item could produce.
Basically its a loads of rubbish!!!

"Quite right to. The term boost does not that accurately explain the system, however it is the closest explanation that can be offered because of the average comprehension! the system is an in line system that for a centrifugal device is very fast! as the cylinder depresses, aspiring new cycled air for detonation, it aspires approx 14.7 psi of atmospheric pressure also known as sea level pressure. when the newly inducted air is passed through the supercharger the high speed impeller collides with the air and as said earlier under the weight of the cylinder, compresses further by smashing air molecules allowing boost to become possible, the system does not pass volumetric efficiency in the way that most people believe but as there is no restriction from mechanical spool then what we are achieving is more denser air, more efficient detonation therefore more BHP within the power band in all cases! I hope that this has helped, Kind regards, R Jones, MD Team ETS UK "

Don't believe people selling snakeoil!!!

Cheers
Tom

Tommo - that explanation is superb [:D]

I did some quick calculations in THIS THREAD. Unfortunately I have probably assumed that it would "pass volumetric efficiency in the way that most people believe", so my calculations are probably therefore rubbish. [8|]

Wow! It "smashes air molecules" does it?

(Aside: Some people must be really, really blinded by science to buy this sort of claptrap!)

Oli.

I think the most important feature is that they are available in both Blue and red! [8D]

And two running at 25,000rpm equates to "combined 50,000rpm". They really are pushing the boundries of technology and science.

I can only echo the sentiments of the Corsa 1.2 owner Testimonial....... Phat!!!!!!

BUT!
If you've a quick car that can beat another car in a larger capacity class, then an electric supercharger moves your "1600" to a "2200"
Oh Ho, Ho Ho[;)]

When I see items like this and see that they sell... I often despair at the state of our species and come to the conclusion there should be a cull arranged sometime soon...

Then again I think....Without people thick enough to buy those things, who would serve you your next BigMac or who would empty your bins next week...

We need thick people... But we also need them to be misguided and distracted with electric superchargers....

No.. on second thoughts.. Bring on the cull.. They are taking up valuable space and resources!

My thoughts exactly Jon,
Lets cull them and cut down carbon emmisions as they will no longer be requiring planes to fly them to Benidorm or Faliraki! They do seem to be very heavy on resource for any benefit they convey. Survival of the fittest and all!!! [:D]

i dunno ... did you 2 favour genocide before or after driving porches?

I think I'll get one for WUF to keep up with you big capacity boys !

I'm sure I can arrange a suitable mappable signal for the solenoid (or should you just wrap the wires around the battery binding post?) to bring the supercharger in with a bang just when I need it. I might even add a second battery to give a combined 24v supply to it to double the speed / boost.

This could save me a fortune on water injection and NOS upgrades in the future. Oh, and I'll get the resistor mod as well for another 20 BHP.

Weltmeister graphs coming soon (or maybe Jamsport just to be safe) . [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D]

Hmmm.... I think it was just after I first drove a Cayenne Turbo...

Ok, if thats a bit harsh... Can we set up some form of incentive to make them move to the Isle of White and once there is standing room only cut the island loose and let it drift into the atlantic to settle somewhere near Iceland?...

Just the ones who have had more money out of the DSS than they have paid to the inland revenue or have spent more days in criminal court than have spent working, yet in both cases are physically fit enough to work.

OK, your all onto me... Our new intake manifold we are designing actually has one of these for each inlet runner to the head!

That is combined with a resistor mod, 14 inch tailpipe, some carbon look interior stickers and a "throttle cam", we believe we can get a 944 turbo up to 1000 BHP at the "seat of the pants" dynoday being held at an Essex shopping centre carpark at midnight on a friday night.

We are also thinking about removing the throttle body all together and replacing it with a loo roll... I noticed that some diesel engines seem to be doing very well in motorsport these days, and I think its down to the fact they have NO throttle body! [;)]

I am also a step ahead from you on the 24v idea... we are planning on using the line drivers from one of our HID conversion kits to power the electric superchargers!

_snip_. Can we set up some form of incentive to make them move to the Isle of White

Its not Genocide, merely justifiable euthanism[:D][:D]

and where is the "Isle of White"?[;)][:D] I hope you didn;t mean the Isle Of Wight which is far too nice a place to spoil with hordes of electric supercharger buying chavs.

I expect the device itself is just a heater motor fitted to a K&N air filter.

Rick

I expected more from you mate!
I really thought WUF was going to be the first 944 powered by an enclosed nucleur reactor!!
You would even get the green lobby supporting you!
