Oh no, not this again! And no, I am not selling.

However, a couple of weeks ago I received a phone call from a well known Sydney classic and sports car dealer asking if I was interested in selling my car as he had a buyer for a 964RS. So, we discussed the car (which he had seen) and then I asked the key question - how much? He asked what I would want and I replied that I really didn't know where to price it. His reply was "would $150,000" tempt me. Now, before you all rush to your calculators, that's £69,000 at today's rates!

Besides the fact that it is a lot of money, consider the fact that this dealer would, at a minimum, mark it up by 15%. This implies he could have sold it for $172,500, or just over £79k!

Now, a year ago $150k was worth about £62.5k while $172.5k was nearly £72k. Therefore, even allowing for the currency movement, this is one hell of a price. It left me wondering what the car would have been worth if I had stayed in the UK.

As a general rule, prices in Oz I would say are anything up to 30% inflated over UK prices. Been keeping track and have vested interest with my mrs being aussie. Visited the dealer ( Classic Throttle Shop ) that I think Simon is talking about a number of times and they are fairly representative of pricing down there. They supplied the red 3.0RS to Mick Pacey at Export which was featured in 911&PW and have got a blood orange 2.7RS which is creating a bit of stir for some right and wrong reasons. They have a great showroom and always worth a visit if in Sydney, run by a couple of brits too.

Both LHD 964 RS's at Strasse Leeds sold today! (£40k ask each). Or gone to another dealer perhaps? Hush my mouth. Anyone on here bought them or know where they are heading? A German dealer perhaps?
