What power would you expect...!

ORIGINAL: 996dom

My car is a 1988 Silver Rose and is running 1.2bar, it had a brand new wide fire head gasket fitted and had very impressive read outs on the leak down test.

The car is running a brand new standard AFM and was remapped by Mehnea who is a very good mapper. I wasn't around when the car was mapped which is a bit of a pain, as I would of preferred the car to be mapped on the road.

I am pretty happy with the cars performance, expecially after reading all the about posts, but I'm sure I will crave a bit more grunt once I've done a few trackdays. This time I think I'll ask first before I buy!

OK - so you've had the car re-mapped specifically for that setup, so ignore my previous posts [:D] I'd go out & enjoy the car as is and wait until things break before you upgrade again [:D]

Just out of interest guys, what do you think is the best Turbo for my set up? Am I right in guessing that with my mods I'll be able to run a better/bigger turbo safely...!

Possibly - I wouldn't worry for now. You've got a pretty quick car already. Drive it on a few trackdays & see how it goes

You might want to spend your next wad of cash on suspension, brakes & tyres [:D] (Or weight reduction - as discussed in anotehr thread right now [:D])

In the medium term, Simon Peckham's hybrid ball bearing turbos would be my recommendation

I've just fitted some Gaz Gold coilovers, just waiting for GT1 to set them up for me. I used the car for a good few days last year and found the brakes to be pretty good with no fade even at Coombe!

Is there any recommendations for suspension set up, camber, toe in etc.

My settings for a road/track car are:

Front -
camber -1
caster 2.5
Toe 0.05

Rear
Camber -1
Toe 0.1

You might want some more camber for a trackday car, particularly on the front.
The main challenge IMO is getting rid of corner entry understeer, without making the back end too twitchy. I run equal width track tyres all round (only 225's until they wear out) - I think that helps. Trail braking is also very useful

- out of interest, what brake/wheel/tyre setup do you have?
