What sort of computer do you use?

Chaps,

My idle curiosity has me wondering what sort of computer everyone on here uses; PC, Mac or something else? Laptop or desktop? Or do you do everything from your phone? I need to know as it helps me complete the mental image I have of all of you, peering into your screens as you lovingly stroke the wing of your 944 ...

My guess is that most people on here will be running Windows laptops, or some kind or another. There will be a couple of Mac users, but very very few, and even fewer will be using desktop computers - they'll all be laptops.

Me? An old desktop computer running Ubuntu (open source software).

Oli,
I run a self assembled desktop running Windows 7 for most of my computer usage, but also have a small laptop for occasional use also on Window 7.

The desktop approach for me allows easy upgrade and a larger display. Over the years have gone from Windows 3 and 286 processor to the current kit.
Prior to that I used Mainframes - Spectra 70 type, IBM 360's and upwards to fault tolerant Tandem systems.

Mostly my iPhone when out and about (such as now), iPad when at home and very occasionally a Windows laptop of some sort.

Good old fashioned, but regularly updated, PC with large monitor still running XP Pro, plus iPad and Netbook.

I've also had a laptop, still got it lurking around somewhere, but the screen is too small at home and the whole thing is too big to lug around!

At home, either a Dell dual Xeon workstation running Win7(Ultimate), a Netbook running Win7(starter) or a old-school Macintosh running OSX 10.5.

At home, a netbook because I hate how much room a home PC requires and I need something easy to carry along when I tune the car.

Windows 8 achieves new levels of sucking. It sucks the big hairy one. I hate Windows 8 to such a degree that I refuse to refer to it as Win8! Even Vista mocks Windows 8.

WinXP and Win7 are both excellent with the latter being superior.

Ubuntu on a 10 year old Compaq laptop, free and it will run off a memory stick. Great if your hard drive dies.
One of my work laptops has Windows bastard on it and I want to hurl it out the window every time I have the misfortune to actually try to do some work with it.

I have a MacBook Pro laptop, iMac desktop, iPad and an iPhone. They all work beautifully. [:D][;)]
