What would you do if you had your time again?

Well now that I'm almost certainly getting the 2-way race KW's I wish I had have discovered these earlier in the season as I am sure it will make me much more competitive and also I wouldn't have spent the money on upgrading my system and having my front Koni's rebuilt.
PS I'm just about to receive a call from the guy at KW in the race dept. to order my set. Hope they can get here before the end of the season.....

Make sure you let us know how they work out for you, you're the first I know of with the Race setup.

Is your motorsport season in the winter then?

Long time no hear. How's it going?

Getting on very well, loving parenthood. So much so I am changing career to spend more time at home, going back to Uni for a year teacher training, going to be a Techy Teacher :D Unless there is a massive NHS style pay increase for teachers I don't see myself running a porker in the near future. There's always the luck dip1!!

Still running about in the bike, its mucho fun just not getting enough riding time (less than 1000miles this year!!)

You should drop me a line to the home email address would be good to catch up on how you are getting on. I got shot of the v8 BMW not really the car to own when you have just quit you job and have no money for a year. It's a nice engine the v8 makes a good noise and pulls well.

I'm surprised it took you so long to reappear when I mentioned that Matt wished he'd payed you less for your car. [;)]

Regrets, I've had a few:

1) Wish I'd spent less on Guinness, Women and Song in my youth and saved to buy a Porsche sooner - it was damned good fun though. [:D]
2) Wish I'd not replaced my original Porsche rectangular speaker covers with oval Kenwood ones - nothing wrong with them, it's just that everything else in the car is original.
3) Wish I'd not bought £14.99 car mats from eBay - great if you like tissue thin curled mats that slide, lousy if you don't.

I agree. I did the same for Jasper [:'(]. I bought the top end Autostyle mats for Beaky and they are in a different league...but then should be for 4x the price.

Hi Slim,

sorry missed your post, I'm glad all is well with you.

You might have picked up on an earlier post that we are expecting a child of our own, which i m really excited about, but it may mean saying goodbye to the car, which would be heart-breaking[:(] We'll see.

the car is running and looking fantastic [:)]

take care

Matt

Congrats, its the best thing ever. We are loving it, Olivia is so much fun, into everything now.

If only curcumstances were different i might have bought the car back off you.

Our season is Winter. In Sydney that means 18-22 degrees Celcius though. It's good for the turbo cars but the mornings can be a bit brisk so I've learnt not to drop the tyre pressures too low, too early. We run about 22-24 psi cold which come up to 30ish hot which is about right. The rich boys pay a couple of specialist Porsche dealers an annual fee to come out and play pit crew for them. This can entail the cars being trailered out to the track, slicks put on, fluids topped up so that they just turn up hop in the car and drive. They come in and the guys in the pits jump around and look like they're doing stuff so that Mr. Dudehead feels like a pro. Ah well it's only money.
As for the money I'm burning, well I can't wait for the KW's to turn up. I'm also getting a KLA strutbrace and some front sway bar bracket supports. Does anyone know about the KLA rear sway bar drop link kit and or what it is supposed to improve? Plus I'm going from Jon Mitchell's short shift road kit to their race shift kit. Anyone try this?

Yes I've had a quick play with his race kit and it is precise like a rifle bolt with hardly any spacing between the gears. Perfect for a dedicated track car, but I am going for the road version in my car as a sort of halfway house between road and track.

Did you feel it made the shift much heavier? I will try it out and if I hate it I can return it.
The road kit doesn't shorten the shift much it just addresses the sloppiness of the old shifter which has a pretty agricultural throw to it as we know.
