What would you do?

I put a K&N panel filter in mine at the last service & have not noticed any difference.
There have been discussions that suggest in some cases filter kits just give a perceived performance increase due to increased induction noise but no real performance improvements without other modifications to the inlet tract.

My personal thoughts are that the S2 air box is quite restrictive, it certainly felt that way to me at higher rpm's. I'm now using a cone filter and am getting much better results (this is based on seat of the pants rather than a before and after Dyno I'm afraid).

If you go down the cone filter route its well worth paying attention to the intake length, I was tipped off by JZ about the importance of this and it really makes a difference on this engine. I've ended up running a long stainless steel pipe that I got from Essential styling (much neater than my original drainpipe mock up [;)]) and this returned the low down torque I lost when mounting the filter too close (whilst retaining the improved top end I got from getting rid of the airbox).

Best regards,
Peter.

Blackwall Tunnel? That's right near my gaffe! Drop by for a cuppa (or stonger) when you are next in the area!

Dangerous move - not having looked at my diary, but if you want to meet up for a pint then I'd be more than happy to.

Sounds like it could be a plan. Anyone else fancy a mini-meet one of those evenings (Mon 11th to Thur 14th)?

I'll add that I have consulted the diary and can only manage Monday 11th or Tuesday 12th.

However, I would certainly be up for a small meet-up and seasonal tipple one of those evenings. Would we want to do it with cars (Fen, would you be travelling to London in your 944?) or just in a pub?

Oli.

I definitely won't be travelling in the 944, but I seriously doubt I'll be in the 964 either, far more lilely the hearse. I'd probably rather leave it in the hotel car park from the Monday to the Friday and use the DLR for transport however.

OK. Well, given your love for all things blown, I guess you won't want to spend all evening oggling a dull, standard and very un-blown S2, hence a meeting in a suitable hostelry would seem to be indicated.

Let's open another thread about this, so that people can see what's being proposed.
