What's in your Cassette holder thing?

Right, regarding that armrest thing that opens up on the tranny tunnel. I know it's referred to as a cassette holder but c'mon, maybe a micro cassette, because i sure can't get much else in there.
Has anyone found a more inventive use for it? I don't have any cassettes, just CD's and they sure don't fit. So at the mo', all i can get in there is my Shell points card, a bit of loose change and a very flat ice scraper.
What have you got in yours?

As I recall; tyre pressure gauge, infrared pyrometer, pen, some copper coins, various Allen keys for adjusting suspension, paperwork from AA delivering car on flatbed to current resting place.

I actually have a set of the genuine cassette holder dividers in the garage. I don't think there was supposed to be room for the cassette boxes, just the cassettes themselves.

My cassette dividers are in the garage also.

Now it contains a duster, a tyre gauge, a grippy thing for the floormats and a pound coin for the trolley's at Aldi

Digital multimeter, tin of travel sweets, £1 for TESCO (although Aldi would be better) and that's about it.

I do find it a good place to put my mobile telephone when driving. And house keys as well.

Oh, and I too have the full set of cassette holders in my basement (along with the original radio cassette player!). They may become valuable antiques one day ...

I can just picture the look on Michael Aspels face when Oil turns up to Antiques Roadshow with a set of odd shaped plastic bits in the year 2045 [&:]

Still got cassettes in mine, along with £1.37 in loose change, a set of very small screwdrivers, and a partridge in a pear tree (well it is nearly Christmas!)

Cheers,

Fred,is that an Alan Partridge cassette?Ours is pretty much the same except I now have two alias £1coins which clip on to my keyring for any eventuallity.

I still have the cassette head unit that was fitted in my car when I bought it but no cassettes to play in it,needless to say my cassette box is empty apart from the actual cassete seperators. I keep meaning to replace the head unit but I can always find better things to spent £150 - £200 on. I actally find the padded top of the cassete box useful for pushing against with my left elbow when getting in and out of the car in tight parking spots or in my garage. Thats why I havn't invested in one of these storage trays from prestige parts:-

Scott,
You can ebay your casette tray & lid for not much less than the cost of that storage tray, or as others have said retain the casette tray body & lid for your house keys etc etc.

Also removed the dividers and installed a non slip mat - tyre pressure guage, depth guage and valve removal tool (if you have ever tried to deflate the collapsable space saver you would know why), radio tuned to 5(00), and a pen,
Tony
(excellent thread ;) )

uumm,
car came with this Box Broken so i have just bought a new one complete with the cassette deviders.

was it a mistake[:-]

Would you be able to route a manual boost pressure valve into it? Or even at a push a dual stage unit like this http://www.lindseyracing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=LR&Category_Code=951BOOST2

Afraid not Colin,
The only humourous cassettes I have are Firesign Theater (sic) or The League of Gentlemen (radio shows).
Cheers,

I think you would struggle as the space is only about 2cms deep with the lid closed. I've always thought it would be a good idea to somehow raise the height of the lid by a few cm to make a really useful storage space. I dont think it would interfere with anyones elbows (Gorillas and Orang-utans excepted of course)

I think it might be more than 2cm deep, but not a lot. I'd guess 3.5 to 4cm. The lid is concave rather than flat to give you more height. Who's going to be first to measure it?
