What's your favourite oil?

i`m sure someone here stated that they use Magnatec regularly without any issues???
engines run on magnatec seem to have a lot of sludge and varnish

Like many I have always used Magnatec in my 944's

I did notice a lot of sludge in the top end of my Lux when I took the Head off!
Know I am concerned[]

Whats the best price for Mobil 1 15w/50?

Costco does Mobil 1 but I doubt you'd get much of a range of different grades.

I like the ester oils that are polarised and cling to your engine's internals when the engine is off so there is instant protection on startup without the engine running dry. Given that the vast majority of engine wear occurs within the first 15mins or so from startup then I want to do everything to protect the engine during that period so thats why I use Silkolene Pro 5w40 which is an ester oil so gives me good startup protection by virtue of it's clinginess and the low W rating. As soon as the engine is upto temp it the oil has the same properties and performance of a 10w40 or a 15w40. I've not noticed any adverse effects but I suppose you wouldn't until you pull the engine apart.

The answer to this problem is a pre oiler! It holds a quantity of oil in a pressurised cylinder and then when you start the engine it releases the pressurised oil around the engine. As the engine runs it builds the oil reserve back up so next time you restart the vehicle there is oil there. You can get them to hold different quantities
Lindsey racing sell them as do places like Demon Tweeks

If mine has not been used for a week I let the alarm kill the ignition and turn the starter until the oil pressure gauge moves. It obviously works as there is no tappet rattle at all. I think I am halving the life of my starter motor but they are easier to replace than engines.
