Wheel colour indecision

I've just got hold of a set of teledials which need some work and I'm debating which colour I should paint them as I don't want silver. I've done a quick test (without clearcoating) with a couple of colours, first one is gold (a slightly lighter, less bronze shade than I was hoping for) and the other is a graphite (darker and more blue than intended). I'm not 100% convinced by either if I'm honest, I think a lighter graphite may be the way to go but I am still quite tempted by a shade of gold... I'd appreciate any thoughts.

I'm not a big fan of gold wheels, so of the two I prefer the graphite but I agree it's a bit dark.

I was thinking something along the lines of the Peugeot 309 Goodwood graphite wheel colour would look good and searched for a picture but they all look dark in the photos too, I'm not sure why.

Graphite. Maybe with a red lip or stripe round the rim.

Gold will just look like your a sad Subaru fanboy.

I agree 101% on both points. Gold wheels only look right on a JPS Lotus or an 60's Ferrari. Gold paint seldom, if ever, looks good as a finish anyway and is best avoided unless there is no other option.

They looked OK on the Williams Clio but that isn't a look you want to be associated with either.

I think the gold - if very light and more of a shade of Bronze, might look OK as it did on that photo of the red 964 with light gold/bronze wheels - can't remember which thread it was now. I was thinking about that myself as I thought it was a bit different and suited the red. I didn't think it looked Scooby/Clio chavvy on the 964. But the shade of Gold in your photo is just too heavy.

Graphite, but it makes the wheels look smaller.

A paler grey colour of some kind - a 'lighter' graphite?

Or (leftfield option), how about the pale Porsche racing blue? Would go well with the red (but would show the brake dust a bit.)

Thanks for all the replies. Gold doesn't seem that popular then, I suppose I knew it would be a contenious one! I'm half tempted to try to to find a more bronze coloured shade, but instead I think I'll concentrate on trying to find a more discrete lighter graphite colour (I normally like black but don't think it works to well on such small wheels). I agree a body coloured line around the rim would look good but I suspect this will be beyond my limited skills to do properly. I'll try to head over to Halfords later and see what other colours I can try [:D]

I think white might look good - although I suspect that the standard factory silver colour is the one to go for...

I was thinking white too. Then a big racing stripe over the body!

Whatever you decide, make sure you get some masking tape [;)]

Peter

You`re gonna track it..................... right?

Then it has to be a colour that wont show up the brake dust burnt into the wheels [;)]

Mmmm, but look what happened to the last "Sensible Car" owned by Mr Empson ....

[:D] just about sums it up!
