Wheel colour indecision

[:)] Bloomin' cheek!
This one wont be going on track (unless the white car has problems and I've already paid for the day [;)]).

I don't want white wheels on both cars, they're rather boring to clean. I think the black satin is my favourite for this car based on those pics (thanks Scotty) so I'll try to do some shopping tomorrow. I also need to etch prime the rears of all the wheels, they're were really corroded the original primer just flakes off, I've never seen any as bad before.

I've also remembered why I got rid of my original Teledials now, finding good tyres at reasonable prices is really tricky in this size...

Peter

When I finally managed to wear out my Pirelli P6000's, I looked around for alternative tyres to fit my teledials and finally settled on Falken ZE-512's which look okay and are a reasonable price. I have been very pleased with them, so they might well be worth a look, because as you say choices are limited in that size.

Regards

I have satin black wheels on my daily driver. They aren't to everyone's taste (possibly why I like them in fact) and they do tend to look darker than the tyres, but on the upside they just go from satin to matt when they get dirty.

I've just finished fitting the wheels and thought I'd update the thread with the results. I ended up going with a metallic dark grey (which looks darker in the pictures than it is) and I'm very pleased with it - I could have gone on forever trying to find the perfect shade but this is good enough for now. I've had some Kuhmo KH11 tyres fitted today and whilst they're still rather greasy they are a big improvement in ride (not often you'll hear me saying that!) and as I went for 225 width all round I'm hoping they should have a reasonable amount of grip once they're bedded in.

Looks good ... how are you getting on with the rest of the car?

Oli.

Really well thanks Oli, there are still a few things that need sorting but it's great fun to be back in a 944.

The engine is naturally the thing that takes most of your attention, it's power delivery and noise (sounds great). The lack of torque is quite amusing, I came off a junction at walking pace in second, foot flat to the floor I must have counted to 6 or 7 before it actually did anything resembling acceleration, but once in its power band it's great and pulls like a train (as you'd expect with only 20bhp less than an S2). I've not driven it without lots of junk in the car so I'm not sure how it handles (I've done so few miles due to the limited mileage insurance that I'm still on my first tank of fuel [:)]) but will try to get a bit more out of it on the way to Silverstone.

For less than £1,500 all in so far I think it's just incredible. The only downside is I don't really like the attention a red Porsche gets, plus it seems to be picking up scratches every day, weird, perhaps I'm just being paranoid but I'm sure I never had this in the white car... Not that any of this will stop me enjoying it of course [:D]

nah, think I'll go with nitrous... :ROFLMAO:
Nutter. Of the first order. (Have I said this before? [:)])

Glad it's going well. There aren't many 'field reports' from an S-owner, so it is good to hear real life stories. It sounds like the reputation for chronic lack of torque low down is true then!

Oli.

Oh very true, if I get around to it I may try to video it, it's quite amusing (passengers will not believe me when I say it's at full throttle), but it doesn't detract from the car, in fact it gives it character and allows you to drive it in a jekyll and hyde fashion depending upon the mood (much like a standard 944T I'd wager [;)]).
