Blatant copy and paste from Rick Cannell's old 944 league table (http://www.cannell.co.uk/944%20UK%20League.htm), mine doesn't appear on here because at the time it was probably ranked about 25 (but it's still mine C753DYT). If yours in on here claim it by replying with your details, or if you know what happened to it let us know....

WUF is owned by a guy in Yorkshire now, I drove it and thought about buying when Ben was selling but it seemed laggy and a bit tired. C7KOE is still going strong I think. LIL was broken AFAIK. WDF 114 going strong. Not sure if it was the same car but i think Fen had one for sale minus the engine before he emigrated. Simon Peckhams old car was in a mag recently for ÂŁ25k. Graham Francis car having an engine rebuild. I expect some of the others are still around. I very nearly bought a red turbo S that was owned by a guy called Paul Rogers back then, since heard it was a Cat D ? Sure others are still around.

WDF 144 is going very well...well except for this damn vibration but hopefully that will be sorted soon.....those were fun days, I saw Rick at the Ace a couple of months back, he's keeping well.....

F614NMY still going strong.

I can't help much with the others other than to say that the car without and engine that Fen had for sale was 9EX, the engine of which he blew up after a tuning session. I don't know what happened to that car - whether it sold and remained in the UK or whether it went to NZ although I have often wondered.

Oli.

They were good fun. It'd be great to do another one, I'd like to see a NA with an aftermarket ECU to see what power can be gained without going down the forced induction route.

F835 VJT was sold and bought back again by David - sadly had been a little neglected, but now has re-upholstered seats and Is due home tomorrow with new bodywork and paint, Still running very well. And is a lot higher up the torque top ten!

H419NHP is parked in my unit, hasn't moved much since the Bedford trackday, hoping to get it home soon, I still plan to drop an LS3 into it, one of the bores is quite badly scored on the original engine and It has done almost 200k so will never be worth a lot - it has big brakes various suspension upgrades - and I want a nice reliable 400+BHP and the v8 soundtrack - I would like to start putting lots of miles on it again and doing some trackdays. Unlikely to get much time on it this year though.

Hi
Does anyone know of gearbox issues with the 944 S2 3.0...
I have a slight whine (car showing 95k)

Lee,

Yes, they are common but you are on the wrong thread!

First step is to try using the search function. Your question has been asked many times before.

Next step if you can't find the answer is to post a new thread with your question in it and a suitable title.

Hope that helps,

Oli.

I sold LIL back to Jon 5 years ago and the 3.2L engine was taken out and sold to a hillclimber. A standard 2.5L engine was put back in and I believe is part of Jons fleet. The mot history shows it's done a few hundred mile a year since then [:(]

The 3.2 engine was put into someone else's car and that car was eventually sold to the hill climber. Before that I was offered it for about half what it's probably worth today [:(].

Hope you are all well not been by for a while,
My car C7KOE is still going well whenever I get the chance to fire her up,took her for a couple of drives this summer but that's it,feel very sad that Promax has decided to close I have missed the chance for a final checkover by the mothership, just been getting her serviced up the road by the Leicester Porsche centre but when it comes to the tuning package and all its baubles I would have taken her "home" that's not possible now reading their FB post, very sad.

I called Andy recently and he said they were very busy. I don't think they've done much 944 turbo tuning for quite a while though.

It's sad to see Promax close. They were a huge help to me over the years, and I wish them both well with their other ventures. [:(]

Beaky is sitting in my garage in desperate need of a cam belt change. His last outing was that Bedford track day when the ball joint exploded. That is all mended (just put back the original wishbones).

I have to admit that buying guitars is more inviting, and cheaper, than getting Beaky sorted. With so many of my old muckers sans 944 I don't really have much enthusiasm for it. If it wasn't the fear of imminent belt failure perhaps I would be a bit more "up for it" but, at the moment, it just feels like a lurking money pit. In addition to the belts the clutch feels strange and I have never been 100% happy with the brakes. Then there is evidence of rust which I am sure would manifest its self in much more impressive issues. I'm also pretty sure the bores are shot. Otherwise all's good.

In fairness it isn't just Beaky who is being neglected, dearly beloved's V8 90 hasn't moved for a couple of years and, at a push I would probably address that first as it is actually useful.

It is perhaps down to getting old and not necessarily being in the same part of the country as the car at the time.

I am almost certain Fen didn't take 9EX to NZ.

As some know, Fen had a massive crash while competing in a mountain bike race last year which, very regrettably, converted him into Davros (his words). He is still getting life sorted in his new situation and looking to take up hand trike racing as I understand. His stoicism in the face of such life changing adversity is a marvel.

True enough. But a business model based on tuning a car which went out of production 20 years ago (and was predominately bough by those looking for cheap performance in later years) isn't necessarily the soundest of investments.

I am saddened to read this.

Hi All,

Just to put a correct perspective on John's statement; ProMAX Motorsport started out as a race team in the Porsche Cup in 1998. I started providing performance parts and kits as a side line / hobby for a few years after that. When the business transitioned into a more generalized independent Porsche Specialist in 2006, the business model was similar to many other independents. During the years since, the business diversified (not just ProMAX) and ultimately the decision was made to focus on the most profitable brand (& business model) that had been developed over the years. Andy & Roger simply don't have the time to commit to all of the brands, so they decided to gracefully shut down ProMAX and Monkfish and focus on Pedders. ProMAX will continue to supply parts until all the stock has been depleted - see the ProMAX website FAQ for more details.

I understand that many are saddened by the news, as ProMAX was a reliable and trusted source of Porsche specialist servicing and advice. Thankfully, there are some other good and trusted independents out there (like RPM Technik), but I am sure that ProMAX will be missed by it's many customers.

My last owned 944 Turbo (H678NJB) is in that list. I sold it in 2009 after owning it for four years prior to that. My previous 944 Turbo is still (I believe) with the gentleman I sold it to in EIRE (back in 2004, the 422 bhp 2.8 stroker 944T). In complete contrast, my current ride is a Ford F-150 2.7 Bi-Turbo (325 bhp and 0-60 in 5.9 seconds) - quite impressive for a rather large vehicle.

Regards,
Andrew
