Who said Turbos hold their value?!?

I know how you feel mate, my car was suffering from fuel evaporation this weekend, hot starting was a **pain** and it was so f'in embarrassing having to turn the engine over for 10 seconds before it fired up. It ran out of fuel down in London first time out and I had it recovered to the nearest petrol station - wasn't too bad that time as I knew what the problem was, still not what you want from a Porsche tho.

Sell it now John, you know you want to - get rid of it and bank the cash. Bloomberg and the Sunday Times are waiting to take your credit card details. Drop me a line if you want an idea of what the car books at.

(I didn't know b*gger would be asterisked - have edited it!)

Thanks for your message John. I would be interested to hear what you think my car books at. Mileage is currently around 11K. I have checked out Parkers and Glass's guides and both are giving trade in prices in the high 70s. This is NOT what the dealers are offering however!

P.S. I got a call from my OPC yesterday and the problem relates to a failed fuel pump. There are none in the country and the part has to be ordered from Germany. Looks like another weekend driving around in my wife's Golf TDI (100PS)!!! [:(]

Nothing wrong with the TDi's mate, love them myself, the Golf has always been the best place to put car buying money in my eyes so well done there! On the subject of fuel pumps it seems to be a genuine shortage alright, was at OPC Silverstone picking up some bits and there was a GT3 owner getting rather upset as his pump had failed and apparently none available for 5 days minimum.

A bit harsh - you can't really blame Porsche if you run out of petrol! [;)]

John, I have to agree that depreciation is a bitter pill to swallow & unfortunately the more expensive the car the bigger the hit come re-sale. Console yourself with the thought that someone could buy a volume model Mondeo/Vectra type car at £20k & take a 50% hit in year one ! My first 996 lost only 16k in three years, the second 7k in it's first year, but like you I am bracing myself for a bigger hit with the TT, oversupply is the issue ! But as the saying goes... you can't take it with you & boy what a great car the TT is, don't kick yourself for the lost pounds, just count yourself lucky to have owned & enjoyed one the fastest cars on the planet & one many can only dream of owning.
Anyway the reason for posting is to ask how many dealers you have contacted, when I sold my last car the price offered varied by as much as £5k betwen different OPC's, it's well worth shopping around them all, JCT600 & Dick Lovett were the pick of the bunch for me. I agree with the dealer,in Aug/Sept the trade will be full of second hand cars PXed against 997's & the private ads will be full July/Aug of the same cars trying to better PX prices. Best of luck & keep us posted.
Regards
Grant
