Who will let me drive their 993RS?

Nick Moss

New member
Vic tells me I have to have a 993 RS, "last of the aircooled cars, seat of the pants etc." I have driven many early 911s, but only a couple of later cars, 964, 993 Cab, 996 C2 and a GT3 Mk 2 (which I fell in love with) but never a 993RS. I want a car that will give me the raw experience, but being of advancing years (though less than Vic [;)]) would want a smoother ride than a 964RS and A/C for the trips across France. Who is prepared to give me a taste of this rare car?

SOUNDS LIKE YOU WANT A MK1 GT3 !!!! [:D]

I'd agree.

Whilst the 993RS is exceptional, for the money, I think the GT3 is the better buy.

I do want a GT3 (Mk 2) but want to make a comparison with the 993. The awful depreciation issue rears its head and I not convinced that the GT3s have bottomed out yet.

Nick,

If you're ever ooop norf you're most welcome to come and have a drive of my LHD 993RS - they're a completely different animal from a GT3.

Hi Nick,
I am also up North but will be attending alot of the clubs southern trackdays this year in a rhd 993 RS which you could jump in.
Interestingly during the 6 years I have owned the 993 I have also owned 2 GT3RS's which are a great car but very different in raw feel to the older aircooled machines.
At the end of the day its horses for courses and what ever makes your own foot tap.
Try them both see which suits you sir!!

I currently have a LHD 993RS with 28.8kms for new and before that I had a LHD Carrera RS.27 chassis no. 1295.
early and late cars are chalk and cheese.
You can try mine if you wish

Old person here! I think u may find the 993 rs alot less seat of the pants than u think.......................in fact one of its great facets is it can be what u want it tobe , driving the Clubsport with Bilstein Sport supension to work and back was NOT fun ,however the well known Viagara blue car [a comfort , elec windows, no aircon] was my daily driver for almost 5 years ................ideal for cross Europe

Was just going to suggest Nic asked for a test drive of Vic's "old" RS @ GT Classics, but I see they have taken a deposit.

IMHO although I absolutely love the 993RS I have to say that objectively the GT3's around now look much better value.

BTW Vic - How about posting some more pics of the new GT2?

Ocean? Oliver? One word -b0ll0cks.....[;)]

Drive a GT3 and a 993RS back to back and then tell me what you think.....

Been doing bits , as only just registered , 10 year rule an all that ,Alarms/tracker yesterday few more little Viccish bits today, shud collect tomorrow might bring it Monday to curry so u can get cold having a look ....................believe me it wont matter if its dark! Failing that Oulton on 18th March i guess................

Philip, Ian and John

Thanks for the offers. Maybe I should come to a trackday whan you guys are around, don't want to drive anyone else's car on the track (apart from Vic's GT2) but a passenger ride would certainly tell me a lot, perhpas a ride to the local petrol station as well?

what ever makes your own foot tap

A 1967 911S does it for me! I'm restoring a RHD one at the moment. The problem is I spend all my time working on these old cars then either the customer takes them away or they get sold.
