Why was post deleted?

Peter, what guidance or training have you received relating to the application of your rule book when acting for PCGB?

Your attitude is embarassing and has a sickening effect on me, and I detect I am not alone.

I realise that the club needs rules and that it could be exploited, but cheer up in sunny Lanc's please and make some attempt to welcome these enthusiasts.

George, you're listed as a non-member. Please update this if you're a member, or don't have a go at the people who give up their time to help run the Club and it's free forum.

Most people here appreciate that te rules have to apply to everyone, regardless of the intent behind a post. Obviously this wasn't an advert, but the people who've been banned before for blatant adverts would have eery right to cry foul. The poster was totally understanding about why Peter had to act as he did, please accept that it wasn't something he had an option about.

We receive absolutely no training, and limited guidance. And get little thanks. If you think you can do better please get on the team - we need more help. []

I will wager that "Sooty's" comment is not approved.....[:D]

not because of what he said, but because he doesn't understand that swearing and bad language doesn't help anyone. []

I think the word is Discretion & quite frankly, our forum thought police sometimes don't exhibit enough of it-the comment about guest members-at some stage earlier this year,it appears to me that a lot of us suddenly changed to guests from our previou member status and there was considerable activity with members asking to be re-instated.
I pay to be a member & not to be bossed around by inconsiderate officious volunteers.
That's my 2 penniesworth-please don't reply with the usual platitudes

Come on people. The OP is happy, the Company that (inadvertently) posted as a company are happy and are registered correctly.
Why have a go at the poor sods that try and make the forum run smoothly?

I know I agonised about any moderation I did when I was Admin - it made me ill. Accept that people are doing their best - believe me it's no power-trip. []

Now I was going to wager that Sooty's post would be approved... on the basis that I think our admin team understand that for very intervention, there are numerous cries of heavy-handedness, censorship, etc, etc.

There is a reason behind all the rules on here... most are obvious, but in many cases not necessarily that clear to those not involved in their inception or upholding them...

Given the number of attacks the admin team seem to suffer for every act, if I were a moderator, I would have said B******s to it ages ago...

Thanks for your efforts guys... I'm glad you are up to it!

Perhaps if you tried to understood the difficult position we moderators / admin volunteers are in you may begin to understand more clearly.

Certainly there is a fine line to be taken and that is difficult at times. None of us are perfect and its all too easy to sit on the sidelines and criticise after that fact.

Nasty personal comments like yours are not helpful to anyone.

I uphold the rules of the forum without prejudice.

If you wish to talk about this PM me and I will give you my telephone number.

Thanks for your support Tref - very much appreciated - and I speak on behalf of all moderators and admins.

If you don't like it go and play somewhere else. How's that for a platitude?..........But then as a member of The Club you are most welcome to comment and, having commented, you are welcome to an answer. As a member you would expect us to try to placate you if we can. Or would you rather we ignored you?

We tried to make the revised rules as unambiguous as possible. People were given the opportunity to comment on the rules and they were discussed at length. They have run well over the last six months with very few issues. They ran well prior to to that as the revisions were little more than a rewording in most cases any way.

They have run well on this occasion, both Sean and the Mods are happy so why the brouhaha?

Soooty's post was deleted because it was rude and antagonistic.

The rules are quite clear with regard to advertising. I appreciate that Sean is in Australia but there is no reason why Australians shouldn't read this forum. If we allowed Sean to advertise then why not a Company in Delhi, and then Turin, Geneva, Calais?

Moderators have e-mails and phones. If you are unhappy then contact us directly and we will be happy to discuss your issues. Don't goad from the bear pit. All that does is generate a playground mentality where someone shouts "fight" and everyone rushes over to keep it going.

I've said all I'm saying on here. If you want to discuss it further e-mail me.

Quite frankly you miss the point-I will e-mail you later when my google server situation is corrected.
Regards,
A fellow volunteer-

Hi All

How sad this all is. When the "Forum" was proposed at the end of my tenure as Director/Chairman of the Club, we all had a certain amount of reservations as to whether "non members" should be allowed to access the site. It was decided after a vote among the Membership who were attending the workers conferance that we should leave it open to all interested in the world of Porsche, but.....with a proviso that the situation would be monitored over a period of time to see how things developed.

The latest revisions have to my mind cleared up a few of the problems and made the use of the "Forum" far less political and more informative for those that want to enjoy their Porsche in both a social and mechanical way.

The latest "outburst" is not only not fair to those volunteers but is wholly unacceptable and rude. An apology would not go amiss in my opinion.

Lets call a halt to this thread and get on with "having fun"

HAVE FUN

Paul Kelley
