Wide alloy wheels....

Hmm, they look very like these Simmons and a bit like some Fikse's I've seen.

...and just to round out the last of my gratuitous pictures, here's one with Boxter wheels on. This is how I bought my car. I think they look OK. I'm not a big fan of most recent Porsche wheels. I promise no more pictures too. Sorry. [&:]

Alright Fen , I have to show them off as I love the look for now ,Here is a pic of my 944T with the BBS 18inch Classic , But the beauty of it is when you get bored of one look then there are so many diffrent wheels to choose from that will fit the 944 , seen a set of the new 2006 911 Turbo Wheels on ebay at quite a reasonable price , I think they were 19 rear and 18 front , I think they were 5 twin thin long spokes , thicker in the center then thin near the outer rim ,with a polished look then the rim slighty darker ,Do you know the wheels I am going on about , I think if they fit the 944 they might look very refreshing indeed , best regards J.C

Are these the same as the current Turbo? If so they are some of the nastiest wheels to ever grace a Porsche - and there have been some howlers.

I realy like the Cayman wheels which look a lot like the Carrera GT wheels.

The down side with big open wheels is you can easily see the inner rims and so have to clean them. [:'(]

I'll hereby declare (again) my position as a long-time D90 affectionado; light (therefore handle well), strong and easy to clean, as well as maintaining the standard look. Conveniently supplied in the right size for the car as well ...

You mean relatively light, right? [:D] D90s are on my kitchen scales about 2 lb heavier each than an equivalent sized Fuchs or Cup. That's a fair bit unsprung weight.

Alright John ,These are the wheels and still used on the current 911 Turbo model ,Got some more info on the wheels ,they are 2007 onward wheels , made for the 911 Turbo , 19inch forged light weight wheels in two tone Tri-Spoke design , finished with a high-gloss polished outer surface forming an impressive contrast to the titanium coloured paintwork on the side of the spokes and inner rim .The listing on ebay said for sale due to upgrade aftermarket wheels fitted , how can you upgrade from these !!! Not sure if they will fit the 944 but if they do , I believe your car would most definitely stand out, when you have these big spaces between the spokes you get your self one of those wheel brushes and as you can get your full hand in it's pretty easy to clean the entire inner rim , any thoughts on these wheels , regards J.C

You really want to know?

'Save your money'.

That's my thoughts. But it's all a matter of choice ... hence the standard-fit (heavy!) D90's still being bolted to my S2.

To be honest i have never liked them on the 997tt (far too bling) and as the 944 was only really designed for 16"/17" rims (says Nick with his 18" ones...[:D]) I can only hazard a guess at the negative impact on ride and handling.

If you want the cartoonish 'over wheeled' look of the local Saxo 'boyz' on their 17" Halfords specials, then go ahead - each to their own....!

Personally, I have yet to see a wheel combo to beat the Cup1 look on a suitably lowered 944.

..although Oli's S2 is obviously extra cool on those D90s.......[;)]

Awwww ..... Fanks!

(Have to say, Cup1's are about the only wheel I prefer to the D90 on a 944. And they do look pant-wettingly good.)

Yuk, yuk, yuk [:'(]

I've hated those wheels ever since they launched the 997T. They are not a patch on the designs used for the 996T or GT2 and I daresay they would be horrible on a 944. The largest rim I would be happy to use with our chassis would be 18's and that's because of two reasons.

1. Porsche fitted 18" to the 968T
2. Techart had some 18" wheels TUV approved for 944

(TUV is a like a super duper MOT test for any part fitted to a German car. You cannot legally fit a part to a car in Germany unless it has passed stringent TUV approval for that specific model)

... which is why you don't see cars in Germany covered in the sort of CR4P you see bolted to chav-wagons in the UK ... but we digress.

Modern wheels do nothing for an older classic IMHO. They simply look like modern wheels on an old car (bling[]) and unless you upgrade the suspension then sticking rubber bands on a car that relies partly on tyre/rubber compliance is a recipe for a cr*p ride, jiggly suspension that jumps and twitches on poor surfaces thereby losing tyre contact with the road. I`ll guarantee a properly tyred car will leave a bling mobile behind on poor surfaces.

I suggest you look at a racing tyre/slick for they do not have minimal aspect ratios!

Most of the modern cars have multi link suspension (some have active damping etc) tuned to keep the rubber bands flat to the road and the roll centre close to the COG. Our cars are 20 year old technology and rely more on tyre adhesion and compliance. The two dont mix in my book. See all the chav mobiles with mahoosive oversize low aspect tyres on lowered (harder) suspension that skid until they slow enough to grip and then turn an immediate 90 degrees inwards into the hedges (where they they carry out a triple piretzle with full tuck) to see what over tyring can do.
