Will I get booked?

I did something silly yesterday! Drove a bit too fast on the M3 while following an Audi TT. We had a little burst together then slowed into the middle lane. As we did so an unmarked BMW estate wedged in between the middle of us and flashed blue lights at each end of the car momentarily. The car then moved into the slow lane and took the next exit without stopping us at all. Does that mean it was just a warning or could we still be fined?[]

Doubt he was on traffic duty, very surprised if you here any more about it. Bit of a pain these unmarked cars, I am extremely vigilant on motorways these days.

I guess he might have recorded video of the both of you for a while - together with your speed. You'll just have to wait a couple of weeks for the summons...

[8|] I always stick to the limits too, sods law!! Cars been in storage for 6 months while I've been overseas and first day out in it!!!

Take that as a slap on the wrist -similar thing happened to me on the M4 in Wales from a very dirty, black, unmarked Disco -got a waved finger from the passenger too!! [;)]

According to pal it was prob special protection vehicle with enough weaponry for a small war -glad I didn't argue!![:)]

Does take the sport out of it though with unmarked cars.....[&:]

It does rather!

I once followed a dark blue Vectra (how stupid was I) onto the M61 and then onto the middle lane behind it. I then entered the outside lane and started to overtake it when a slower car pulled out in front of it so, to help him not get boxed in, I wisely engaged warp factor 911. As the Vectra pulled into the space behind me, it displayed an impressive array of flashing blue lights from the front grill... I slowed back to 70, pulled into the now empty nearside lane waiting for the inevitable. It drew alongside me, 2 uniformed officers gave me a big thumbs up and then raced away.

OP, I suspect you will hear nothing further.

I would suggest waiting by the post for a couple of weeks. I guess if they have admissible evidence you could be prosecuted. Also a lot might depend on how fast you were going and if it was safe to pull you over.

My 2 pence worth on this is that I don't think you will hear anything. If they had the evidence they probably would not have bothered flashing their lights at you. A lot of these guys are reasonable folk and having spotted you they set off behind you expecting trouble, given you slowed down after a while they thought they give your heart a bit of a fright and flashed their lights.

My (unfortunately personal) experience of motorway tickets is that you get stopped for an interview before the ticket gets handed over.[]

We will all wait anxiously with you to hear what happens. Do let us know!

Are you sure it's still 100 - I thought I had heard of a case where someone was disqualified for 93mph ?

Maybe I imagined it!

Have to say car looked and sounded well at Cadwell Melv - deceptively quick according to my timing.

My sympathies - we've all been there. Was convinced I was due to be done about 2 years ago but nothing appeared.

Just tick off the days.

try and put it out of your mind-my experience sadly!is that if they were going to do you then they wouldve pulled you over.

i have been a couple of times!!(not to mention the number of times in france[]!!

i agree with those who think it was a gentle warning.
