Just a precis of my notes, answers in BLOCK CAPS. Please raise anymore queries here and please, please, I'm only the messenger!!!
BTW, the Board were pleased that these subjects were brought up, and thankyou all for it. And PS, I was the only RS to do this......
Rgds Mel

1.Would like to know how the club tools/ info thing is progressing if that's poss? LG
TO BE ADVISED
2.Yes - cheaper track days please! EVIDENCE PLEASE JASON WITH COMPARATIVE COSTS, TIME OF YEAR AND NUMBER OF CARS ON TRACK -ONLY THEN CAN I TACKLE STEVE KEVLIN ON THE SUBJECT
3.Less ruddy politics and in fighting. WHAT CAN I SAY????

4.More pressure on PCGB (thats cars) when things go wrong that shouldn't rather than embedding ourselves deeper up their ar... I BROUGHT UP THE SUBJECT OF RMS, PCCB AND GT3RS WHEEL CORROSION WITH BOTH THE BOARD AND GEOFF TURRELL OF PORSCHE CARS GB. LATTER BASICALLY CONFIRMED THAT THEY MUST PERSUADE PORSCHE AG OF THESE PROBLEMS -HE ADMITS THEY HAVE NOT COVERED THEMSELVES IN GLORY WITH RESPECT TO ADDRESSING THESE ISSUES.
5.Some decent arrangements with tyre/brake companies at rock bottom prices wouldn't go a miss...hell there is only 16,000 of us... JASON WATCH THIS SPACE.
6.Please can the club take the forum and the internet more seriously. It is clear from a lot of comments from "management" that they consider this new fangled Inter world wide net web thing to be a minority interest and of no relevence. THE PLAN IS TO STILL GET AN ONLINE SYSTEM UP AND RUNNING FOR THE WEBSITE AND MEMBERSHIP, WITH SECURE INFORMATION/CAR DETAILS FOR THOSE THAT WISH ETC.

THE FORUM WILL STILL INVOLVE INTERACTIVE REAL TIME INFORMATION.

THE WEBSITE WILL CHANGE!!

PORSCHE AG HAVE DELIVERED NOTHING SPECIFIC FOR THE WEBSITE. THEIR STANDARD FORMAT WEBSITE IS DESIGNED FOR SMALLER CLUBS AND NOT SUITABLE FOR PCGB. THEREFORE PCGB ARE WORKING ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE AND WORKING ON A DATABASE SUPPLIER -I.E. D.I.Y!!......IT'S GOING TO COST, BUT IT WILL BE THE WAY PCGB WANT IT. THE BOARD HAS ALLOCATED 10% OF THE ANNUAL AG CONTRIBUTION TO THE WEBSITE.

7.Please can pressure be put on the board to publish the COC online in the members only section. Contrary to what the board would like us to believe, this is allowed by the COC. The reason I want this is to stop all the speculation and conspiacy theories. It really would make the club a better place.

IT WILL BE PUBLISHED, BUT NOT THE FINANCES.

8.Please can the board be asked to accept some sort of mediation with Jeff Maynard so as to get the 45th Anniversary book published.

SEE ELSEWHERE -I THINK EVENTS HAVE OVERTAKEN THIS QUESTION. A FORTY + FIVE BOOK IS BEING PUBLISHED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE NEXT PP COVERING THE LAST FIVE YEARS OF THE CLUB IN PREPARATION FOR THE FIFTIETH....

9.Trackday prices are too high. Paying a premium for PCGB only days is just wrong.
The club should be providing them cheaper than alternatives. SE

10. I agree with Simon on the point about the forum - for many people the forum is their main (or sometimes only) two-way contact with their club. It needs to be recognised how important and useful this forum is for members. And how valuable it could be for the club in terms of advertising revenue and it's use as a recruitment tool. SEE ABOVE

11. If not parts, tyres etc - would it be possible for the Club to look into negotiating a deal with a fuel company for example? Perhaps create a 'corporate' scheme (PorscheClubGB is a company afterall) with discount negotiated for all members. I guess it would need to be managed through individual accounts where the discount is applied - rather than over the counter. (I don't know the in's and out's of how these fuel discount schemes work.)
There are 16,000 of us - okay, not all
UK based or own a Porsche (but WILL own other cars) and that is a huge number of potential loyal customers for one petrol distributor.

Just trying to think of added-value member-benefits which could be considered - things that make PorscheClubGB really attractive to new members, and really valuable for existing members? RC

12. Next year is 15 years of the 964RS the greatest ever Porsche we all are agreed, presume we will hae a proper display this year at the National Event"¦"¦ DS SEE OTHER THREAD AND WATCH THIS SPACE!

13. I would be interested to know the long term strategy for the web forum as we have a good base to build on but are starting to lack behind some other forum experiences that I am a member of.

Do PCGB have a development strategy for their web presence? OW

Melv,

good precis,

can I add on the Net and Forum strategy, on behalf of myself and my sucessor, I would welcome ideas to develop the Forum. I must say, hadn't given it much thought as so much else in the IT/Online space to work on.

BUT if you have a good idea, then be prepared to also contribute your time and effort, as we depend on volunteers

Nice one Mel.

There remain many many questions to be both asked and answered, but if we had gone through all of them + the topics being discussed, I suspect the conference could easily be a 3 day event! There's nothing to stop the questions being posed to the Board outside of the conference, however, and I was able to get answers to several questions I had through personal discussions with the individuals.

Same here Adrien.

I think if I'd posed some unanswered questions at the end of the meeting I would have been lynched!!!!

Thanks Melv. I also believe that the club could do more for its members, given the size of the membership. Basic things such as tyres (including slicks) ;), oil, basic tools and even track day gear (I have the latter with the PC Francorchamps, which is much smaller) could be negotiated at lower (much lower) prices for members.

Melv - many thanks for raising the points - don't have much time at mo to go through resposnses in detail but quickly wanted to say thanks.

I'll come back on track prices with a bit more research if I can get my hands on some 2006 info asap.

Thank you for the post Melv, I have learn't more here than a complete thread elsewhere..[]
To add, some excellent points raised and answered....

Thank you for giving this information. I am a bit unsure about why the CoC financial information needs to be so confidential. What is so sensitive? My Life already! Show us the money!

And Mr Spear, what does this mean, eh?
12. Next year is 15 years of the 964RS the greatest ever Porsche we all are agreed,
Eh?
You 'avin a larf mate?

Yes indeed Melv would certainly be a big plus on the Board gets my vote, only trouble is he can only do a max of four years..so how about it Herr Spear?

Hi Melv,

I believe that we have a 10% discount on racewear (from one particular shop). We also have Michelin officially present at each trackday. The deal on Michelin tyres is NOT great (Charles, could you confirm?) but then they will store your slicks mounted on your trackday wheels in their truck, from trackday to trackday, so that one can drive back and forth to said trackday on road tyres. Now, wouldn't this be a useful service to many RS owners?

Then we can drive at Spa for about 300 pounds per car (irrespective of number of drivers) with very few people on the track (at most 30-40 cars). So, these trackdays are subsidised by the PCF. They also organise trackdays at Zolder, Magny-Cours, Le Mans (Bugatti) and Dijon.

Historically, PCF has evolved as the trackday sub-branch of PCBelgium. Their remit is definitely the track. Would such a "trackday" branch be possible within the massive machine that is PCGB?

BTW, membership to PCF is not cheap (200 euros) and we do not even receive a glossy magazine.

Track days with hospitality is 400Euro or 750 Euro for the Fun days. MPcups are £400 for 2 rears so not bad.
The beer is free but take your own mug as they serve 200ml glasses.

Gary, Simon, Des and Ajit -I am flattered.......but you guys obviously have more time on your hands than I do, so booger off!![:D][:D][:D]

Melv very little time on my hands at the moment, but you can always find time if feel the need..........so Herr Spear await your name on the ballot paper..........[:)]

Melv, what exactly does TBA mean in relation to question 1 ?
Is'nt the answer the same for question 2 that I heard three or so years ago in a workers conference (in fact I think we were sitting together at the time Melv)
Actually a lot of the reply's sound familiar?
