Would I regret it???

I saw a picture of a 968 with the headlamps up and it did look just wrong, but I still think if Porsche had sold it as a 3.0, 8 valve turbo, it would have been an amazing car.

I felt the same but trust me it grows on you. I wouldn't change them for pop ups, but when I go into the garage the cleaner front end on the S2 looks really nice. I think most of us agree that the ultimate look would have been S2/turbo front and 968 from the cabin back.

I came very close to buying one that a local indy dealer had about 6 months ago, but the price went up and down daily so I gave up on it, I'd still like to buy a cheap one with a blown engine and do a turbo conversion.

Actually, I think in general that the overall lines/curves on the 944 platform are better than the 968, however the actual finish in parts on the 968 is better or more modern. ie the rear / lights mouldings.
I think the 968 looks too straight from many angles and actually most closely resembles the 996 in my eyes. The side rocker panels only help to exacerbate this too.

Each to their own I guess, just my personal opinion but I agree with Pat. Also to my eye the 968 side skirts are too low compared with the rear - if you follow the lines along the bottom of the sill side skirt from front to rear it doesn't flow as you reach the back. It's one of those things that you probably wouldn't notice, but when you do it sticks out like a sore thumb and really spoils the appearance. I do like the rear panel of the 968 though and the rear windows that are larger and flush fitting. One of the things I like about the 944 is it looks 'bulgy' and aggressive and the styling of the 968 calms that aggression down.

Regarding the GT3 body kit on a 996, well I think the 996 is a bit sedate looking which is why I think it needs the GT3 body kit to pep it up a bit - but personally i'd leave out the rear whale tail spoiler and retain the stock moving rear wing.
