X51 Powerkit

Guys,

Been away from the thread for a day or two and I come back to loads of questions to answer !

So, in order.

Okt, Yes definately spec X51 again and hang the cost and yes, if I could run to another 20k I would buy the turbo and tune the proverbials off it !.

Sunil, X51 might be worth £5k on the forecourt to the OPC but definately not to you ! Ive been there, about £2k is all you will get.

Okt, we need to get out tuning terminology streamlined. 'Chipping' is very old hat and crude these days, 'remapping' is where its at, whereby the software house puts back the optimised map the engine should have had in the first place were it not for emissions constraints, muppet ownership and maintenance regeimes, lower quality fuel possibililites etc.

Have had two engines remapped now, very pleased with the results and no, you would not know they were not how the factory programmed them, if you didnt know, so to speak.

If I still had the X51, I would definately have it remapped and possibly an exhaust swap & cat back by Parr/Cargraphic or Revo Teknik or DMS just on the remap .

Got to be done.

ta - as the master of the dark side I bow to your wishes and shall in future strive to use the phrase "remapping"

Nice to see you regularly back on the posts

I am definately getting the itch for a remap soon to get a good 400-405 Bhp under the boot and see how it goes.[:-]

Rumour has it that the OPC's are starting to say their will be no Powerkit/X51 option for the facelift

That kind of makes sense from a marketing point of view as it would definately be faster than the shopping trolley 3.6 GT3.

You can rest easy that the 'facelift' engine wont be as fast as X51 though.

Long live the King !

I bought in July 07 a new (cancelled order) C4S with sport pack/ exhaust/ etc.. but did not have the power kit that I really wanted. As I miss the extrra power, now wondering if it is better to get the kit retro fitted or trade n the C4S for a new TT? My dealer in France has new black one for delivery end March with more or less the specs I want (minus limited slip diff) & is willing to give me a (relatively - minus 10%) fair trade in price now but not willing to quote any trade in figures if I order a new TT (with my own specs) for delivery September/ October. According to him the drop in value will be more substantial by then... Tough decision & all help/ comments welcomed! especially as 997/mark 2 on the way...

Most folks would say you can do more with aftermarket products for less money. I have the Power Kit and I love it. I bet the basic S model is plenty fast, but the X51 just has more torque across the power band.
