Hi Everyone,

We thoroughly enjoyed our last weekend away so much I am organising another!!!!!!!!!

Sat 8th Oct to Sun 9th Oct 2011.

Probable itinerary:

SATURDAY 8th OCT

Meet at Esso Services/Little Chef, A1, half a mile north of A638 Doncaster to Wakefield junction, sat morning. Depart from there at 0900.

Travel to Harrogate. Park next to Holiday Inn car park, in underground secure parking.
Browse round this fantastic town and have lunch.

Depart when you like and follow tulip map via: Ripley,Pateley Bridge,Ramsgill,Lofthouses, across the dales on a brilliant road to Masham,Bedale and then on to Northallerton.

Browse round this stunning town. Visit the delicatessen, Lewis and Cooper. Have a cream tea at Betty's?

Stay at the Golden Lion Hotel on High Street, Northallerton.
Address:114, High St, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL7 8PP
Tel: 01609 777411
Website: www.golden-lion-hotel.co.uk

Looks a really nice hotel. But I will check it out in the next few weeks. If it is suitable,I will let you all know and we can then book their rooms. They have over 20 so numbers attending should not be an issue.

Tulip routes do away with congestion and motoring problems. We can all go off at our own time and schedule!

SUNDAY 9th OCT

After a hearty Yorkshire breakfast, depart at your leisure following a tulip map route via: Kirkby Sigston,Osmotherley,Hawnby,B1257 in to Helmsley.

Browse round this lovely town.

Follow tulip route to Thirsk. Again browse round. Then follow tulip route to Asenby.

Lunch at the CRAB AND LOBSTER. This was such a success last time we are going to repeat it!!!!!!!!

I will book lunch for 1.30pm again.

Then disperse on to the A! and home.

Up to now those interested are:

Jane and Richard Davies
Kerry and Tom Fisher RO
Nettie and Russell Clements
Kim and Ian Simmonds
Maggie and Robin Hainsworth

I will keep you fully apprised.

Kind regards

Hi Robin, Just our cup of tea, please add Max and Dorothy Twist to the list. Thanks for the hard work in organising such an event. Regards MnD

Sounds good Robin. Please include myself and Jane (if you'll have us again - promise not to cough!) Hope it's as good as the last one. Weather shouldn't be too bad "up north"

Hi Guys, Brilliant. This event is filling up nicely. Maggie and I are visiting the Golden Lion Hotel on saturday next. Hopefully if everything looks tidy I will update the thread saturday night and you can all start booking your accomodation. Cost is Ă‚ÂŁ86 per room (for two persons) with a right good yorkshire breakfsat!!!!! Sounds good. Kind regards

Hi Everyone, Maggie and me popped up to Yorkshire today. Both tulip maps are sorted. The routes are absolutely brilliant. Even though I say it myself!!! We may be able to stop off at Masham on saturday if I can arrange special car parking. The Golden Lion Hotel at Northallerton is a no no. I won't go in to details but the car parking is not suitable for our exacting needs. However, Solberge Hall Hotel, three miles south west of Northallerton is absolutely fantastic. I have provisionally booked all 19 rooms until the end of June. 10 room at standard double are Ă‚ÂŁ80 per room bed and breakfast. 9 rooms at gold double are Ă‚ÂŁ120 per room bed and breakfast. The rooms are superb. The accomodation is truly superb. The dining room is superb. This weekend break is open to all members. Once the 19 rooms have been taken that will conclude our party. So far 10 couples have expressed interest and 8 couples have already booked. The Solberge Hall Hotel can be contacted on: Email:reservations@solbergehall.co.uk Wesite: www.solbergehall.co.uk Tel: 01609 779191 Kind regards

I've booked our room [:D] It looks fab-u-lous on the website. Can't wait! Laura

Hi Everyone, Those attending so far are: Nettie and Russell Clements Laura and Charles Wardle Jane and Richard Davies Kerry and Tom Fisher RO Jane and John Bushby Kim and Ian Simmonds Cath and Randolph Coward Doreen and Max Twist Maggie and Robin Hainsworth Looks like we are going to have a great time. There are still 10 rooms available so if you fancy a weekend away in Yorkshire, driving along some stunning roads, visiting stunning locations and eating at superb restaurants then this might just appeal. Thanks to all that have booked already. Kind regards

Sounds like you are going to have a fantastic weekend, the roads you have picked are awesome and the places you will visit are well worth spending time in. I live in Northallerton, pretty central to your weekend plans. I would say you have made a wise decision with moving away from the Golden Lion and not just because of the parking issues you mention! Solberge Hall is ideal for your overnight stay, especially if you book it completly and fill the car park with Porsches. You will have some brilliant opportunities for great photographs both there and at many other points on your travels. Have a fantastic weekend. Richard

Thanks Richard, You are more than welcome to join us on a tulip run if you wish. May be on Sunday when we follow a route to Osmotherley, Hawnby, Hemsley and on to Thirsk. We are then dining at the Crab and Lobster for lunch at 1.30pm. Kind regards

Hi Everyone, We have managed to find secure, private car parking in Masham, away from the general public. John Todd, town crier and market superintendent has organised free parking at the brewery. This will allow you to browse round this lovely village and sample its wares. A pub near to the brewery is renowned for its fine food. Kind regards

Hi Robin Just to confirm, following our telephone conversation today, the two couple to add to your list are; Lorraine & Stephen Tomlinson Linda & Chris. Chappell I have also confirmed the hotel booking for two Gold Rooms Many Thanks Steve

Hi Stephen, Brill news you can join us for the WOTY in October. Really looking forward to having a great time with both regions. Looking forward to meeting everyone on the saturday. Kind regards

Hi Everyone, Sharon and Stephen Jory are booked in to Solberge Hall Hotel and will be joining the group for the weekend. That makes 13 couples so far. Only 6 rooms left!

Hi Maggie and Robin Thank you for your kind offer to join you, unfortunately I only have the car on the road for 6 months of the year and it goes back into hibernation on 1st October. Have a fantastic time in North Yorkshire, I hope the weather is kind to you. Richard

Hi Everyone, An update. Michael Chappell will be joining our group with Linda and Chris. That makes 13 couples plus one. 27 in total so far. There are 5 rooms left at the Hotel. Kind regards
