Youngest 944 driver

I recently celebrated the 18th aniversary of my 21st birthday. Does that make me the 2 youngest drivers on the list? [:)]

PS. The idea of insuring the car yourself and having your son as a named driver is a non starter. My father tried to do that for my brother (many many years ago) and the insurance company saw right through his cunning ploy.

I remember my new 924 Lux back in 1984 when I was knee hight to a grasshopper (19) cost me £1600 insurance which was a a LOT of money back then. Was with Peart I think...

That's impressive. My biggest ever insurance premuim and the only time ever into 4 figures was £1,024 for my first Porsche which was a 911 Carrera 3.2 Sport in 1995 at 26. It think I got it for about £780 when I renewed and since then I seem to have paid about £650-£800 every year for Porsches, Imprezas etc., which I guess means it does get cheaper in real terms as you get older.

There's a guy who was featured in Retro Cars who's Dad is into Porsches and he has a 924 as a first car. He didn't specify insurance costs exactly but suggested it was comparable to what his mates were paying for Corsas etc. I think his surname was Marsden, he might be on here? Can you get classic cover for the 944 at 18? It might need to be garaged and limited mileage but it could still work out.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Hey thats Me!!!!!!

Ok...
You cant get classic car insurance untill your 21 and insurance pirces on the 944 are really high untill that time anyway. Im with zenith car insurance on the 924 and that cost me £2000 for the first year (for which most of that time i hadn't passed my test) Now it costs £1500 which isn't too bad for a young driver. Its also a great thing to have at 18 because its somthing that you really want to look after, ( i do street concourse with mine for that matter). Its just looking for a good 924 thats the problem. mine set me back £5000 which is a little over the odds, but then again i knew it was in a really really good condition.

If you'd like to have a chat about it you can call me on 07861240742 or email me at andymarsden1@aol.com
