Excellent. Automotive porn, work of art, whatever that looks fantastic. And very heavy when you see it out of an engine bay. [;)] Good luck with the installation.
 
Nice pics ;) Have you performed the install back into the car today ? PS: How much for the hi-quality foam gun in the last pic ?
 
Fantastic project. I take it its been built up in standard trim and from that brand new block that was kicking about some time ago that changed hands a few times? Bet you can't wait to fire it up!
 
Thanks for the encouraging comments. Today was a bit slow ... Partly installed the LR Super 75 and intake pipe to see how close it came, then machined the throttle body so it would clear the turbo, put the rear main seal and (lightened) flywheel. Also replaced all 8 ARB bushings, fitted the additional ARB stengtheners, braided front brake hoses, engine mounts and braided fuel hoses. Marc, we left you the nicest bit for tomorrow evening : wrapping the exhaust manifolds ;) 'twas the reason we actually did not put the engine in today.

Sorry Fen, I can't remember quite exactly in which hands this block went through, not that it really matters anyway. Yes Scott, this is a standard 2.5 bottom end with a 3.0 water pump, there is NA camshaft in the cambox and as shown on the pictures bigger than standard valves in the head.

... and after some more fiddling from above with the other operator lying under the car checking for flywheel/clutch disc/pressure plate alignment the engine is finally in. It came a bit as a surprise we did not need to remove the turbo/downpipe assembly from its mount in order to lower the engine.

Another fun day is to be had tomorrow with the fitting of the exhaust.
 
Great news to see it sitting in there with no problems [:)] I know it's wrapped but that 3" downpipe on the turbo looks huge [8D] Keep us updated
 
Today was quite slow. While fitting the X-over pipe went fine fitting the central section of the exhaust line to the downpipe was a chore, as there is very little room to rotate the V-band clamp and we had of course first oriented it in a way that would not have allowed us to tighten the central exhaust section once it would have been in place, so we lost about an hour rotating the clamp on the downpipe.

This will be a half road half track car. Yes this is a big turbo as the owner is after an old school on/off turbo delivery with the most possible power late in the rev range, regardless of how poor spool up may be. There is always the possibility to switch to a more "civilised" turbo in the future anyway.
 
I run a LRSuper75 in a 2.5,it feels like a big turbo but i wouldn't say it its slow in spooling up or feels uncivilised at all,you just drive it a certain way, it just feels long legged and like it has big lungs because once it starts to come on boost it carries on and on[:D]The customer that is getting that car will love it, he will have perfect compression aswell by the looks of the shiny new engine!Nice pics keep them coming please!
 
I'd consider enhancing the VE with a bigger cam in that case. It really opens up the top end and that is where that turbo will be very strong. Should be fun!
 
Mark, thanks for the feedback. It seems the Super 75 can be had in several forms and the one used here is a journal bearing, "oil cooled", 8cm² hotside, T350 turbine trim. Do you know exactly which one you run ? Patrick, there is a 944 NA camshaft to begin with, he (we) will see how it feels ... Who would you call for a "bigger" camshaft ?
 
Sorry i don't have the exact spec of my LR75 turbo,it was fitted a while back, if i remember correctly it is not a "P" trim,and i thought it had water(wet?) cooling,i did not order it directly from Lindsey,Promax did all the tuning for me(their level 4),mine is pre all the ball bearing stuff but like i said i honestly don't find it slow in spooling up and you can still join in very nicely at a traffic light grand prix, as long as the road is dry[:D]sorry can't be more specific with the specs but its a while back now..
 
I've driven Marks car with the LR75 and he is right, it certainly doesn't feel any more laggy than a standard K26/8 on a 250BHP car, but when it does come on boost ...............OMG [8D] That V-Band clamp looks a right pain in the derriere to tighten up and all I would say is fit everything loosely first then tighten it up at the end (with a lump hammer :ROFLMAO: )
