£200k for an RSL before Summer?

A 964RS to drive has it's own naughty quirky B road satanic manners, not for the cup holder boys .... but we don't buy them for B roads ... tHe ULtimate CLubman 911 ... don't agree you can replicate the 964RS but agree you can build an excellent track 964 as any other 911 ... But will never be a RS .... As I say

So as modified register secretary, you are now saying that you can't improve on a car by modifying it?

I never said replicate an RS.....you could stick £10k worth of suspension on a C2 and it would handle in a sublime manner, that could possibly exceed the competence of an RS. But as also stated, it is not how the factory intended!

Have you handed your badge in yet??? [:D]

Yes, in the past when the cars were cheaper, they were great clubman cars, that is not why the cars are at such a price level now.

I really don't think many new buyers will use the cars as we once enjoyed them, that is mostly down to the value, where the insurance excess makes it prohibitive for many to drive on track.

Sorry for the rant but what really p****s me off is to hear so called "enthusiasts" at track days going on about the value of their cars that they never use!!!!!

Rant over.

Don't forget many uk owners bought their cars at the bottom of the market as 'enthusiasts' and are one of the reasons why there's now such an active uk community. 10% Track day excess then was £2.5k "” still a lot of money but nothing compared to £7k+ and rising today. That's an expensive day out if it all goes wrong.

The rise in value is a double-edged sword. On one hand it's great to see the value of an asset rising (who wouldn't unless you have so much wealth it makes no difference). On the other hand it's a pain in the a**e as it makes EVERYTHING else more expensive "” insurance, track days, specialist maintenance, engine or gearbox rebuilds. Many enthusiasts' cars get used frequently but not necessarily on track. Don't forget there's at least one big euro trip per year - Clastres, Le Mans, Spa, Ring.

There's room for all types of ownership in the group. Let's not alienate anybody. [;)]

Wasn't this for sale at SCOM a short while ago for £125K, that's some jump.

Yes was reduced to £99000 could not sell built by 9m from original carpet car .... ANOTHER MODIFIED RS 100% mark up in a week that is madness and not even standardish ...debate was buy at say 95k and worth putting back ... What do Hexagon see we don't, worth converting our cars to wide body ... Dont think so!!!!!

Even if put back to NB it'll never be an original panel car because....the left rear quarter is now on my C2! [:D]

Sorry Chaps was not targetting anyone in this group and I know that the insurance excess puts some off - I am lucky I think in that my insurance is £450per year including unlimited track days, agreed value and 10% excess - so my risk is arguably ~£10k which I can live with.

Because my car stands out (yellow) I do get a lot of passing traffic in the garage at track days (which are mostly none PCGB for me) invariably from well heeled 50+ gents who want to regale me with how much they paid for their 2.7RS or similar and how they now dont use it and aren't I brave (or stupid) etc. - that is what gets my goat :)

My last submission was fired off in haste and apologies again for any offence casused - we are all lovely boys on here!

That's gotta put £5k on yours at current rates surely? ;-)

Indeed my car cheap in light of the Hexagon RS .... Think we should all now covert our NB to WB and double the values!

Whilst like Kevin i am quite happy to see my car increase in value, it's becoming a real PITA at insurance time. I have just renewed mine and finally got round to filling in the valuation form. Problem is, within a few weeks that value could be less realistic. An insurer will never payout more than the sum insured. Which means if you are unfortunate enough to have a total loss you may never recoup what the car may actually be worth[:(]

Any insurance valuation should really be 'cost to replace' and not simply the present value of the car. The cost to replace needs to be forecasted for the duration on the policy - i.e. how much might it be in March 2015?
