1st March and two Turbo happy chappies!

ORIGINAL: unclewinks
don't take any notice, they look fine
judging by the state of the lane today they wont take long to get dirty, give that farmer a broom

We were being invited to give an opinion!

Without having seen the pictures of the coloured centres, I would have been sure that the grey centres would look best. However, having seen your picture I think I was wrong - the coloured centres look best IMHO. BUT, that's on the red car - I don't think the coloured centres would work on std Gen II turbo wheels with any other body colour...... although I might change my mind again if I saw pics! ;-)

Car looks beautiful by the way! Funnily enough, I had my first flirtation with Guards Red only last week: My 997 was in for sevice and I had a GR 2.9 Boxster. At first I thought it was awful, but after spending a day and half with it, I absolutely loved it and concluded that should I ever own a Boxster, I would save a few quid ;-) and specify GR! It was a weird change of opinion that I can't remember experiencing before (not in relation to car colour, anyway!).

I should point out that I also have a set of Gen 1 turbo wheels with some Sport Cup tyres fitted.........

I think these will look absolutely brilliant on your car Alan especially with the grey centres !!

Just got home from 3 days away and it looks great, what an excellent choice of colour but I would say that, I do like the red centre console but leather visors and illuminated sills what extravagence. I think an aerokit would also look good. Look forward to seeing it on friday.

I cannot understand why your OPC thought the colour combination would be a problem I've always thought Gary's looked the business the 2 colours go really well together. Enjoy. Hopefully will see it at an event during the year.

What a fantastic car!! I thoroughly look forward to seeing it at the next local meet.

To my surprise I think I prefer the black centres. Still having both to suit your mood seems the best of both worlds.

Enjoy.

Not usually a fan of red but it just looks amazing on a Turbo a somewhat bold but brilliant choice fo colour - congrats TS!!

Well, a D-Day drive with the register and 1200 miles later I can say that I'm starting to feel at home in this car. The first thing to say is how completely and totally effortlessly it gobbles up miles. Yesterday we drove over 600 miles - around the D-Day area, back to Calais and then down to Devon. We emerged without one pain/tweek/sore bum etc - amazing at our ripe old age![:D]
Most of the weekend was spent using the paddles to get me out of the previous push me/ pull you buttons habit and a lot of progress was made in that area after a couple of attempts to change down by pulling on the right hand paddle! We travelled every conceivable type of road surface from the super slick highways to the very bumpy and uneven small town centre roads and the car was never less than completely composed.
I didn't use full throttle at at all (some mis-conceived idea that they still need to be run in!) but at 1/2 to 2/3 the acceleration is more than enough for most road situations, coupled with the PDK resulting in a constant surge up to some "interesting" speeds hanging on to Gary's coat tails! It feels to me that the PDK operation has come on since the Gen 2 C2S I had. I could occasionally "catch it out" resulting in a less than quick change but, despite my best efforts , if not always intentional, this one seems to have is nailed.
It may not be the quickest Porsche around a track, well through the twisty bits anyway, but for my needs it is superb. The 1200 miles were covered at at average of 24 mpg, on the motorway 2000 rpm in 7th equates to around 70 mph (not that there was much of that going on in France!![8D]) and you can drive all day and get out, if not as fresh as a daisy, not feeling a wreck. I think this is going to be a very happy long term relationship.

You always end up at some "interesting" speeds hanging onto Gary's coat tails..............[:-]
