2007 Power Race

Ok I've just spoken to Circuit Days (01302 743827) and the £139 was a Christmas special which has now reverted to £159 but he will let us have it for £140 if you call him and quote the 'Porsche Group' price and my name - Paul Smith. He's also going to knock £70 off my price as the organiser which I will split amongst however many of us actually book.

So call 01302 743827 and get booked in [:D]

I'm booked up! If it wasn't for the wife taking advantage of the sales and getting some new sofa's I might have stood a chance of getting my suspension sorted out in time for this event!! Oh well at least i'll appreceiate it all the more when I do eventually get it sorted!!

He's started updating our names to the attendees list on the website [:D] Awww Mark, you're bringing the slow car [:(]

Bring the fast one, you know you want to, go on, go on, go on

Ready, get set (wait for it ...) 1 hour to go (Jon! - I can see you on the forum)

Happy new year all! Lets see over 500 Weltmeister BHP this year !

Happy New Year everyone.

I admit it, I was here just before you posted Rick...

I guess that was two of us too sad to go to wild new year parties!

... In fact... It was probably just me.. You even have internet access when your at the Reading meet! No doubt you were surrounded by loose women at a party while I sat at home complaining about there being nothing cool on TV.

Whats the 500 BHP hat like then?

And should there be a cone shaped hat with a big black D on the front for everyone who does not make their manufacturers output figures???

Or in fact... to make it interesting, how about one of those hats for anyone whos BHP or Torque graphs dip down bellow a standard level at any point after 2000 rpm??? <WEG>

Anyway, happy new year everyone!

Or how about one for achieving the predicted amount? I'd be interested in an "increased area under the graph for money/time spent on mods" league table [:)]

Now that Andrew has booked on we have our minimum of five to get the discount (thanks guys [:)]). Anyone else is now a bonus, and we have a few passengers/spectators also so hopefully it will be the first of many 944 track days this year.

I am hoping (if allowed) to come along and spectate. Is there a charge for spectators?

Jason

Spectating is free, I think passenger rides are free on this event too (there is normally a nominal chage of a tenner or so at most trackdays) so come along & blag yourself a passenger ride too (you'll need a helmet) [:)]

Wizard - you don't know what you're missing. Even with 20yr old shock absorbers these cars really feel at home on the track and it will put a big big smile on your face! Looking forward to refreshing my suspension (unfortunately I can't get it done in time for Bedford), it should be like a night and day transformation!

Am always wary as to how much wear a track day will do to a set of tyres - my budget won't stretch to a new set each time I spent time going round a track [;)]

What are the wear levels on a day like this ? Possibly I could come along as a spectator if thats ok and see what its all about ?

If you have older tyres with not much tread left (say around 3mm) the wear will not be too bad. However if you have new road tyres with lots of tread you can easily get through half the wear in one day. This is because the deep tread blocks move around and heat up so much more than shallow tread blocks on an older 'worn' tyre.

As this is an open pitlane day you can control the wear a bit better by only doing short 10 minute stints and not allowing them to heat up too much

I'm unlikely with my 116dB exhaust, though I may come along for passenger rides or even take the hearse out for a laugh if there are any spaces left nearer the time.

It's not broken. I might look at getting a cheap acorn silencer I can fit instead of the G-pipe for track though since I might be a bit loud for the 'Ring as well and I've just commited to going there in early April.

That's not a bad idea Fen, this thread's all about useable power after all, isn't it? [;)]
