26th May Porsches and Planes at Kemble

I will presume that every one attending will want breakfast unless otherwise satated. Also if you would like to fly please state it on here and email us. Due to the interest in this event we are limiting the flying to one per member, but I will put you on the reserve list for the second place so there might still be a chance.
The list so far:
Derek and Su (fly as photographer)
James (fly) and Carolina
Malcolm (fly) and Jenny
Peter Kirton
Martin Broadribb(fly)
Richard and Harvey Franklin (1fly + reserve#1)
Richard Watling (fly)
Adrian Robson (fly)
Mark Bennet (1 fly + reserve#2)
Neale

The list for flying is now closed

Flying are: Watling, Bicknell, Lewin, Franklin and Broadribb. No other deposits were received. Su will also fly to photograph the event from the air!

However, everyone is invited to attend, though we would like notice of those who wish to have breakfast at the AV8, view the flying and/or visit to Britannia. Particularly the Britannia as the volunteers are opening up specially for us. If I don't get enough names for the Britannia visit, to be fair to the volunteers, I'll not ask them to open up

The deadline for booking this visit is drawing ever closer.

Here is the program:

09:00 - 11:00 Breakfast at the AV8 (pistonhead chappies will also be there [:D]) So lots of nice cars to see (other than yours!) [:D]

11:00 - 15:00 View the last ever Bristol Britannia. See http://www.bristol-britannia.com/xm496.htm What does she have in common with cars? Answer, she has the same engines as Donald Campbell's Bluebird record breaker.

11:00 - 15:00 Bulldog formation flying and other passenger rides in several aeroplanes. The list is now closed but opportunities may arise during the day.

09:00 - 15:00 Plenty of opportunities for photography, including a mass line up of Porsches under wings of the Britannia.

If you have not yet done so, please let me know if you are coming. You can just turn up on the day, but we will not be able to guarantee breakfast. Whatever, it is always difficult planning these events if chaps leave it until the very last moment, so I would be most grateful if you give me some indication of your intentions.

Kemble airfield (Cotswold Airport) is entered via the A433 Cirencester - Tetbury road. Follow the signs to the AV8 (by the control tower)

Ah...

I don't get to log in here as much as I used to.

Just logged in again since being told I couldn't have both of us fly to see if things might have changed. Unfortunately not the change I hoped for!

Rats... []

Mark I sent you an email.

Of course both of you are very welcome to turn up. You might get lucky!

Please however let me know if you want breakfast or view round the Britannia.

Just to remind you all, as if I need, that the Great Cotswold Region is meeting at our airport (Cotswold Airport) this Sunday for flying, photography, breakfast, photo shoot under the wings of the Wispering Giant, then look round inside.

An opportunity too good to miss.

The list closed for flying ages ago, so tough... but you can look, don't touch [:D]

If you have not booked breakfast you might have a long wait, but you will be fed. Breakfast starts at 09:00

So.. Cotswold Airport (alias Kemble Aerodrome) Sunday from 09:00. Be there or be square[;)] Make sure you get the right entrance, that is the one off the Cirencester - Tetbury road.

stop press: silly me, just looked at the weather and it will be fine, but I should have expected that as Geoff is arriving. [:D]

Derek

I won't need breakfast but will need to be away by 1230 to meet a commitment in the afternoon. Trust that this is going to be ok?

Richard Watling

11:00 Photo formation fly past etc.

11:30 Drive to Britannia for photo shoot and view inside - Geoff i/c

How many of you?

Yup, of course you are very welcome, but far too late to fly! Nevertheless plenty of opportunity to take pics of the Bulldog formation + 2 Cirrus camera ships.

Breakfast has been reserved for those 20 who have booked. I suspect Pistonheads may be in force also. The AV8 say they are full and probably won't take any more for breakfast. Should manage coffee though.

The photo shoot at the Britannia is no problem. but be prepared to chip in £3 to look around. It is manned by volunteers and they need all the funds they can get. Geoff with fleece you all at the Whispering Giant. Please give generously. The weather looks good, ALL come in Porsches if you want a group photo... please

Just wanted to thank every one, what a great day.
Many thanks to Derek for organising it. The weather could not have been better.

And very many thanks to the other pilots who gave up their Sunday to fly (in the end) 8 Club members. Thanks also to Geoff for the Britannia end of the day. We raised quite a bit on money for them.

It always was going to be rather ambitious planning 3 concurrent events, which also depended on good weather. So a brainwave of mine getting Geoff to organise a bit. Geoff = sunshine [:D]

Mind you, when I got home I had two emails sent this very morning, asking if they could come and possibly fly.... what planet are they on? The list has only been open for 5 months and flying program closed 4 weeks ago. But I suppose it was always thus :.... look out window.... oh, weather great... I think I attend the R31event... they won't mind.... easy to plan!!!!!!!!!!! []
