356 moderator?

Many year ago I complained that there was no register for my car.
The, then, Chief Executive Officer replied . 'Ask not what your Club can do for you... etc'.
I started by organising a new Register, then I helped set up another one, organised the first of many Cotswold Rallies, Manx Tours, Tours of Ireland. I was made 'Member of the year, then a Director and finally on Honourary member.
All because of that comment by our COE.

Nobody has had more OUT of this Club than I have and I am sure that Paul Kelley feels the same.

The message is get out there and do something instead of winging.

and that my dear friends is exactly how www.ddk-online.com came to be born...... a very enthusiastic young man was unhappy with the lack of internet information that was available/accessable to club members. he approched the directors and offered his services only to be told "thats not how things are done in the PCGB" " our members arn't interested" after a few months of trying he was labelled as a "flash in the pan, young upstart" or worse a "troublemaker".

i know for a fact that most DDKers are very enthusiastic PCGB members too. but if PCGB refuse to provide what its members want then they will look for it else where.
if the directors had listened when first approched then DDK would now not exsist, it would instead be a new and exciting development/direction within the PCGB..............which IMHO is where it should be.
it could still be so if only the directors wouldn't see anyting new and diffrent as a threat. it's not too late.

Helen

Where is the paper trail to back up your statements?

Who has funded the setting up costs of DDK ?

What extra benefits do DDK provide ?

Again, I ask the question..." what do you all want from the Club?"

Give us a clue then perhaps something constructive can come out of all of this negativety.

Come on...Have fun[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Geoff,
for daring to have an opinion & being stupid anough to voice it i am labelled as a troublemaker too.[&o]

I too have organised events such as Trades days & a very successful toy & book fair for those out of season open days at Cornbury House. would love to do more of these sort of events.

i don't think seeing ddk as a rivel is very helpful......its NOT (although it is becoming so) and was never ment to be, it was set up to show PCGB just what the internet could do FOR the PCGB.

i would be very happy (and i'm sure Tom(Bootsy) would be too) to discuss with the directors ways in which to bring the two clubs togeather..
i see us more as a big happy family, yes we have our diffrences but when the occassion calls for it we unit. and are stronger for it.

OH what Joy.. just seen this and I WILL BE ADDRESSING THIS TONIGHT when I get back in

PCGB lot !! get ready with your bucket of sand to stick your head in as usual!!

I'm going to enjoy this!!!

Hi

Thats a good way to start. Who is putting their head in the sand? Just asking for a list of what you want, then I would hope that something can be achieved.

Be positive, make constructive suggestions, make them available to the Board, and then discuss at the November seminar or the AGM.

The forum ( introduced during my time on the Board),is still only used by a relatively small percentage of the Membership, therefore it is essential that you make your thoughts and suggestion known by communicating with the Board as they are not mind readers!

Have fun

Paul Kelley

Helen.
There is nothing to stop you being part of 2 or more Porsche interest groups .
I am a member of 3 Porsche Clubs but I do not try to publicise one club on another clubs forum. It just aint polite.

The trick is to have an idea and see it through don't expect someone else to do it for you.

Helen. We all love you to bits and you are an asset to the Club but you do tend to ruin it all by 'going off on one.'

Please let us all work together.

i am only a member of 2 porsche clubs (i dropped out Tipec) i have signed up countless(into 100s) members of the largest of these clubs and none for the other.

My goal would be to unit these two clubs with PCGB being the (mother) umbrella organisation. so i think we are all after the same here.. " please lets all work togeather" for the good of us all.

anyway back on topic.

the 356 section still needs a moderator.. as for as i know Nic dosn't have a 356 therefore he is breaking his own rules [:D]

Helen . .

Have to say I can't really see any young men approaching PCGB before starting DDK . . . why would they.

Suppose I could be wrong . . . . but where are you getting this from?

Mark . .

Please try not to kick off too much . . . it doesn't seem to get you anywhere [;)] . . . . take a deep breath and remember it's a car club.

Like i said,

LETS GET THIS BACK ON TOPIC. and stop worrying about other clubs.

Why are you so worried about who's the moderator anyway . . . there's no real power bestowed on a moderator . . . who cares who moderates the forum.

Don't think Nic has ever moderated anything on here . . . . which is how it should be.

Don't think there are any rules about having to own the car for which you moderate (although it probably makes sense). I think however there is an unwritten rule that moderator should be acceptable to the Reg Sec (Fred).

Perhaps you should call Fred up and ask whether he's happy for you to be 'the moderator'?

Phil

PS still interested in your story about the setting up of DDK . . . . sounds a little Harry Potter . . . not that that maters either . . . . . as it's all about the cars . . .. right?

The moderator is nominated by the register secretary. They do not have to be an owhner. For regions they do not have to actually be a member of that region.

I just find it so depressing that now this forum area is open to all forum users, we still have people moaning.
How about putting that effort in to posting something about the car. Post pictures, restoration hints, stories of where you have been with it, how other owners have helped, where you got that elusive spare part, best tyres and suppliers for the old ones.... SOMETHING

But no. all anyone wants to do is moan that there's nothting here. Well big bloody suprise! []

Mark B . . . I'll annicipate the response 'because I've posted it elsewhere' (which will be DDK) [:D] . . got to love it.

people continue moaning as they never get a straight answer to a question, untill they have thrown a tantrum and the thread regarding the simple question is 6+ pages long and wildly off topic. [:-]

Phil, i don't do Phoning people. it take too long trying to catch them in,

besides i am as deaf as a door post so find using the phone very un-helpful. [:-]
