458 Driven

ORIGINAL: okellyt any one know why they are all sponatneously combusting?
I suspect that is a question being asked repeatedly at Maranello. Clive did well to disguise the GT2 as a Turbo cab.[;)]

So I wonder if its just a simple insurance payout on these cars catching fire or any comeback on Ferrari for the costs.. Its not looking like just a one off any longer is it!! [&:] garyw

Yes, and if you just bought one and it's gone up in flames, do you have to go to the back of the queue for a new one?

...even more annoying if you had to fork out again out of your own pocket because the insurance company had turned down your claim on the grounds that you knowingly caused the loss by driving the car when there is clear evidence that if you do so it is likely to catch fire.

You wonder what quote you must get when asking for insurance on one now The % of built to destroyed must be quite high (by insurance standards) at the moment

I believe something like 300 cars have been delivered with 10 have already been destroyed by fire or collision thus far. [8|] Regards, Clive

Seems it has come unglued or should that be unstuck! http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=898209&nmt=RE: Wrong Type Of Glue Blamed For 458 Italia Fires

"Thermal incident"[:D][:D] I guess Ferrari would call the events in Pakistan recently a "rainfall anomaly"[:(]

"Ferrari says it will replace any burnt-out 458 with a shiny new one 'as soon as possible', as long as it can be proved the er, 'thermal incident' was the result of the problem addressed by the recall." Thats an important line to the question asked prior...
