Agreed. £4600 is too much and titanium is not needed on a 1400kg road car. The Supersprint and Fabspeed systems are around half that price, which while still expensive make more sense to me.

Hi Oli,

Your spec sounds great to me, I was torn between the two blue colours but ultimately decided to go for Miami Blue with the Club Sport package and a few other bits and pieces. After changing my mind a number of times I decided not to go for the PCCB’s.

I‘m also based in the North West and ordered a GT4 at the end of last week too. I was in a similar quandary when it came down to the spec but in the end I just went for what I wanted. Like you, now it’s the long wait until delivery...

I look forward to seeing the pictures of your car when it eventually arrives and maybe at one of the North West PCGB events.

Sounds like we had a very similar decision making process. Im still flipping between Miami and Gentian myself, I have until the end of August to make my mind up.

I was actually looking at a few used cars for sale for inspiration, one of the cars with PCCB appeared to have the inside of the alloy scored, looked as if a stone had gotten caught between the calipers and the wheel. Im happy with my decision to stick with steels.

Indeed, it’s just the wait that’s the hard part! Luckily we have a new house to look forward to so that should distract me enough, moving out of Manchester to Macclesfield, and a proper garage.

Hopefully the events can start up again soon! Do you plan on tracking it? I’m hoping to do Oulton and Silverstone next year, at the very least.

It’s a small world, I live just outside of Macclesfield in Chelford.

Have you been to any of the Region 5 meetings? We usually meet at the Stanneylands Hotel in Handforth on the second Wednesday of the month. We also have a Saturday morning drive WhatsApp Group as well as many other events. A number of us were at Oulton Park last weekend to watch the Porsche Club Championship and a few of us are off to Blyton Park for a PCGB Track day on Monday.

I agree with your decision regarding the PCCB’s, although I hope that I have made the right choice and that the red callipers look okay against Miami Blue. In the medium term, I’m hoping to upgrade to a GT3 at some point so I don’t think that I would get the value out of them. My spec is pretty basic as follows, with half a mind on resale.

Miami Blue Black leather interior with extensive items in Alcantara® and decorative stitching in contrasting colour: yellow 6-speed manual transmission Chrono Package and preparation for lap trigger (I believe this free on the GTS & Spyder which is a bit annoying)

20-inch 718 Cayman GT4 wheels in satin platinum

Tyre sealing compound and electric air compressor (This was free in the 911)

Light design package ParkAssist (rear) with reversing camera Cruise control Club Sport Package Steering wheel rim with top centre marking in Yellow

Full bucket seats Smoking package (Im not a smoker, I just like the hole in the centre console covered up, plus you get an extra socket) Seat belts racing yellow Decorative stitching in contrasting colour

Carbon interior package (with leather interior)

I am booked in for the Oulton Park Track day in September but think that my 992 may have gone by then, I also enjoy the clubs Anglesey day so hopefully that will be one of my first track outings in my GT4.

I've not actually been to any of the meetings yet, I had intended to go after we moved (which was originally meant to be March! We actually exchanged contracts over a year ago... anyway..). I'll come along once we're all settled in, whenever that ends up being.

I think the combo of Miami and red calipers looks great, personally, red and blue go together. When are you due to take delivery? From Wilmslow?

The Brooke system above is going to be a bit restricted if it's using the standard tips.

A quick update on the system I'm having for my car. It will be similar to the Brooke/JCR layout of pipework with bullet silencers and I've had the option of either stainless steel or inconel. I'm going for inconel becuase it seemed rude not to [] Tips will be inconel with carbon fibre outer shielding.

It's being produced by Ninemeister in Warrington and I should have the silencer fitted in about a month's time [] They'll also have GPF delete pipes available for those that want them.

Looking on their website I didn't realise Ninemeister were in the exhaust manufacturing business, or have they just got a tie-up through their favoured supplier Kline?

Kline do a system already so mine will be a new development from themselves as far as I understand it. 9m build complete cars to customer spec, including race machinery, so they have a pile of suppliers they can call on for work on whatever they need. I don't know who's doing the actual pipework for the GT4 system, I'll try and glean some info if I can.

If they're working with inconel I suspect it's not Joe Bloggs Big Bad Exhausts!

Well thanks to some, "external influence" from seeing some other cars, on another forum, I've changed my colour choice to racing yellow. Thanks to Twinfan for the steer. [], it's all locked in now too!

We're looking to move Mid-September now Martin, so plan to come along to some regional events after that.

As a side note, I have a bit of a first world problem, does anyone still know if the PCGB insurance scheme still has the 30 year old minimum age limit on it? I'm currently 29 and would like to go with the scheme for the trackday insurance. Otherwise it'll be Admiral and I'll pay for the days I attend in the year on an ad hoc basis [:'(]

Good colour choice Oli. I'm sure you won't be disappointed with it.

Can't help directly with your question but you may want to look elsewhere for a quote, especially if you want to do some track days. Specialist brokers like ManningUK and CalssicLine should be able to offer you a policy which includes track day cover at no extra cost which is likely to be cheaper than insuring on a day-by-day basis.

It would certainly be my preference to get a policy that includes track days, rather than pay as and when needed. Looking at £700 for the year for standard road insurance, and then £600 per track day! (Standard 10% excess applies etc). Taking this into account, any specialist policy around £1300 would already mean I’m in the black. I fear it may just be a case of waiting a year, however.

1st week of December I've been told. Could be an interesting drive back from Sheffield.

It's been quite the year, the house build has been delayed, and we've ended up working from home in a 2 bed flat far longer than anyone should have had to, we ended up getting engaged and now it looks like we're finally moving. Hoping the year ends better than it started!

With regards an after market exhaust, having not owned or experienced the 981 GT4, so don't know what I'm missing, in my humble opinion I think the 718 GT4 cabin sound is electrifying especially as you go past 5,000 revs.

So she’s here, was delivered on the back of a trailer today and I promptly headed out to the Peak District to take advantage of the sunshine.

what a machine! Well worth the wait too. I think I may have for a stone or something stuck in the drivers side rear caliper as I have a rubbing sound coming from there. Couldn’t see anything, the sound got really bad after application of the brakes, but seems to have quietened down. Rust on the rotors perhaps? Sticky pad? May take the wheel off and have a better look tomorrow.
