8th June. Donnington Park. SUNDAY..

Also don't forget to wear long sleeves and no shorts (daft rule, but there you go).

I may try to make it over for a bit of spectating, depending how knackered I am after this week.

I will be flying 20 hours or so in the wrong direction on the 8th :( still on the plus side my car may well be going in for some bodywork attention whilst I am away which is nice.

It always seemed daft to me too, but after my bump last year I've changed my mind. The only glass damage was the passenger door window, yet my uncovered hands and face in a visorless helmet were competely peppered with tiny glass cuts. I'm glad I wasn't in shorts and T-shirt - ouch [:(]

Hi -- what will you be in? and whatever it is, could you please turn the boost right down!!!

Mind you irrespective of what you are in, I expect you will be very quick, you know no other way. Any chance of a bit of a critique of my driving -- I need all the help I can get!

Hi all

Mine is back and needs a clean up etc after its time in the bodyshop which I hope to attend to on Saturday and also get the Cup 1`s back on it.

I expect to be there but I`m not tracking it unfortunately as its sat still for so long I need to put some miles on it. So please look out for me and if I can blag a couple of laps with Andrew and others it`d be great.

Anyone that wants to feel what a Silver Rose spec 951 is like but with KWV3 and Weltmeister ARB`s can try mine if they are in two minds about investing the money but its only got a two named driver policy so proof I`d be covered by insurance would be nice.

Ouch indeed, ok I stand corrected [:)]

Just spoken to Calum & Melindi, they confirm they will be coming but not tracking their own 968.

ALSO great news, he is prepared to do some 30 minute coaching sessions during the day if asked. This would be at a preferential rate for the 968/944 owners of ÂŁ50/half hr. This is a great chance to get some first rate tuition - I'm in.

Post as below, if you want to take a session, that way we can get it a bit organised ahead of time rather than some sort of scrum on Sunday!

Great news [:)] and nicely organised Paul. I'm so frustrated I can't make it in LIL as that would be a great opportunity

Hi Paul,

I will be in my 944 Turbo (standard apart from earthed cycling valve and switchable exhaust system).

If you want me to ride with you, sure.

Regards,
Andrew

Paul & Andrew -- no shows?

You were missed, in what turned out to be a top day. Track was closed for the best part of 1 hour early on due to a big oil spill - after that enjoyed much fast lappery, good company, topped off with a BBQ at one of our number who actually lives in Castle Donington (less than a mile from the circuit - wonder if they'll have us again on another day!)

It was a good day, some "iffy" driving standards at times but the weather was superb, a bit too hot
actually. Nice to meet new faces. There was a really nice 944 turbo cab being driven enthusatically. Nice
to meet you, I hope yor brakes held out on the way home.

Did not get to meet any off the other 944 drivers was too busy having fun. I showed the 968 guys
how to do the Esses properly[;)][;)][;)][;)]

Well the 944 boys were poorly represented..????
Where were you all....?????
Or did you all go home when one of your compatriates "blew up" early on spewing oil ALL over the place....The instructor with the driver needed shooting for letting him carry on for SO long....
PJS put up a good "fight/show" right in front of me.. Must have been the save of the day... At one point i thought it had become a drift day.... Nicely held m8.....[;)][:D][;)][:D][;)][:D][;)]
Took LOADS of 964RS scalps, + a few 993 scalps...one being a turbo...[:D][:D][:D]
Lots of Boxsters being driven by "Miss Daisy"..Used them as mobile chicanes...[:D][;)][:D][;)][:D][;)]
I just wish they had LISTENED in the "poor" briefing... to move over when they see a fast car RIGHT on there tail, + not sit there for 3 or more laps before "thinking" of moving over.....
But all in all a FAB day out......
Bring on the next one.....[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Aaargghh, now I wish I had listened to my heart rather than my head, and come along[8|]

What were the 'iffy' driving standards - the failing to get out of the way of the faster cars bit?

Still, I've packed the car for the trip down to Portsmouth on Thursday morning, just need to fill it up with V Power and give it a wash (!) and then Thunderbirds are GO!

I am definitely up for the next trackday that anyone on here is thinking of, so let's get something organised[:D]

Everyone has to have a first track day, but if anything that means you should be more aware of what is going on around you. The briefing was aimed at drivers who had done more TD's and did not stress how important it is not spoil others fun by getting in the way. There are large parts of Donnington that you can't overtake on so fair enough, but there is no need to hold anyone up for a lap, let alone 3.

Dave's comment about driving Miss Daisy is a little unfair on Miss Daisy, she was slow but looked in her mirrors!!!! Certain cars were a driving without any idea of closing speeds or others braking ability.

"iffy driving standards" were definately NOT looking in there mirrors...[][][]+ if they did + saw a 968 didnt move over thinking they were faster....
I think a LOT of the 968 crew showed them just how quick a 68 can be driven..[:D][:D][:D]. EVEN if we do have a few less horses...[;)][;)][;)],, Its NOT all about sheer power....

Fair comment - it is about everyone having fun, after all, not just those 'with all the gear and no idea'...[8|][:)]

Really itching to get mine on track now, somewhere with big run off areas, ideally...[:D]

Hope to meet up soon Peter.[:)]

Nick
You dont need to have the BIG run off area... Just drive within your own limits,,, BUT keep a look out in your mirrors...+ CONCENTRATE...
I remember my 1st T day.. Yes it did seem a tad daunting, but if you take it steady youl be ok....You DONT have to go,, balls out from the start, thats how you end up going off....
