911 Speedster Project

Just found this thread - car looks great! Check out Excellence April 2010 (current issue) for a Red one to compare with! Really don't know why Porsche never (well almost never) did this.

It's now getting Blue - well the last coat of primer is!

The underside has been scotched to let the primer key in

Then given a coat of etch primer

Then all the seams had to be re-sealed

And then coated with a rubberised stone chip

So next week - more primer (blue) and then a bit of colour!

Thanks Guys - yes it's coming together, but there's a bit to go just yet!
I went across to 9M this moring to have a look myself, and now it's out of the booth in natural light the Cobalt Blue hues look magnificent! The shadows turning almost purple indigo.

This is only the underside on a rubberised underseal - the engine bay looks stunning.

More piccies to follow!

Absolutely Aldo - there's a fair amount of thought gone into the detail with this car; 'tis pretty special! I bet Geoff would love to arrange a Speedster gathering [:D] If not, we'll sort one!
I've been asked by the North West RO to do a talk about the car later in Spring at a region club night - just need to catologue the 300+ (and rising) photo's! It may not be everyones 'cup of tea', but I'm pretty enthusiastic about it!
Graham

We're more than willing to arrange a meet night at 9m if anyone wants to come along and see it in the flesh before its finished (as long as it's not in the first week of March).

Another week - and now the rebuild has begun - first the sound absorbant pads, then the wiring loom

Then the rear suspension in bulk

Then the calipers

All the oil, brake and hydraulic pipes are now back on so tomorrow this goes back!

Once all the man handling donkey work has been finished, the remainder of the car will be finished painted before all the trimming gets done and the shiny bits fitted.

The engine and transmission plus the suspension is all back on the car - so it's been painted!

It's the standard tacho - sent to a company called REAP Automotive Designs, they did the graphics for me - took 6 months to turn it round!
