911 Speedster Project

Stunning car Graham, absolutely stunning and you worked wonders controlling the weather on Monday :-
roof down = rain, roof up = sun, roof down = hail ..........etc

I wished I'd had the opportunity to photograph a double dose of Cobalt 993 !!

What a nice little project and it's unique, But looking over the pictures one thing strikes me ? You have for asthetic reasons had the side repeaters filled and deleted from the front wings and it cleans up the look of the car from the side nicely, but for a car or this age that is not legal from an MOT point of view or construction and use regulations (you must if standing one meter adjacent to the rear of the car be able to see the front indicator flashing.this can be achieved by a wrap around design at the front or by having a wing repeater),so you must have a friendly mot tester on your books!

Steve, thanks for your observation. Before carrying out the modification, 9M checked with their local MOT test station.
The design of 993 wrap around front indicator conformed with regulations and so allowed us to dispense with them.
No favours or bending of the rules required!

Wheels - wheels - wheels.
Though my standard Turbo Twist wheels have been fully refurbished and look immaculate, I'd always lusted after the Fuchs type wheels, and looked at the Kersher type aftermarket; then Porsche went and released the latest 19" Fuchs as fitted on the Sport Classic.
I tried some other 19" OEM wheels but having seen pictures of the US Guards Red 993 Speedster there was only one set of rims calling and and tempting me to spend yet more £ on my car. After some fettling and tweeks last week over at 9M, I collected my car yesterday morning and went to my local OPC where they had brought in a set of the new Fuchs wheels in for me to try!
Well, they fitted, no modifications, no arch rolling required, and no rub! This is also helped by, at my request to 9M, that the car isn't running too low (Euro RS height - there or there about).
So now we have the latest incarnation!

Looks great Graham, the new look Fuchs style wheels are super on the car....
Would love to see it in the flesh so to speak, what events are you doing this year???

I cant do Silverstone, but am hoping to be at Porsche and Polo..

Cheers Al

Thanks guys for all the positives!
I do intend to go to the Porsche & Polo meet - all these separate events seem to divide & segregate the club. Just slightly wary about a 'puck' being lauched off the Polo pitch - and I would never trust horses/ponies. I hope the weather perks up, and as for this hottest 'Summer on record', I came back from holiday last week, and it's not stopped raining since! Hardly Speedster weather[&:]

Agree that in someways too many events not always a good thing. like everyone else im sure we cant do them all so
some will prosper and some im sure will suffer....

Will defo be a Porsche And Polo( on holiday in the area) so will get a look at your Beautiful Speedster, definately
Perfection a Real Beauty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers Al

Graham .. a few questions about the wheels...

1) did they fit without spacers?
2) do you give you a very hard ride?
3) any quirks I need to be watching out for ?

I AM VERY TEMPTED !!!

Sorry - I missed your request for info until just now?
1) Wheels fitted straight on with no spacers, no arch rolling - just out of the box and on!
2) No change to ride quality. The car is on KW suspension and is on a fairly soft setting anyway and not too low.
3) No quirks - just had to re-paint my nuts!

Porsch-apart have a set on ebay for sale - but I managed to get a better deal from my local OPC (maybe because I've spent a few £'s over the last year!)
