931 vented badge panel/nose on a 951..!

It's just a cosmetic upgrade, also no negative impact if you keep original plastic "air tunnel" installed. Patrick in Germany sells high quality clone 924 turbo nose panel vents. I suppose oem new ones are not available any longer. Marek in Poland sells 951 glass fibre nose panels like Patrick wrote.

Are they made by the same company who makes the GRP wings that Marek sells, Olli?

Most likely.

...and Teilecar.com is Marek's company in Poland, not in Germany.

Friend of mine noticed the vented panel helped only if the radiator fans are running, that was running on the track.
If I remember correctly the 924 aerodynamic sketch this area is under vacuum, so no air is going to flow in unless the fans create a sufficient level of vacuum below the panel.

the 924 aerodynamic sketch this area is under vacuum,

If a vacuum, it will work but in reverse..........

The rear quarter vents on a RUF CTR were similarly lower pressure than the Intercooler duct at the rear so the airflow was reversed......

What about active ducts at the front, above 30mph / WOT condition, a neat duct rises majestically 60mm out of the badge panel ensuring a proper forced air flow into the intercooler.....its what was done on the 964 at the rear for aero reasons [:)]

951 badge panel arrived.. here it is against the 931 panel, we can see how they differ in shape..

Interestingly, in this picture of the underside, we can see the 951 panel has (for want of a better word) a structure on the rear of where the vents will sit.
Provided this structure remains intact after installing the vents, then it will shield or really may as well be blocking the vents off making them have near zero
if any effect on cooling or turbulence under the bonnet. If that part stays there (which I suspect it will) this finishes the argument about any impact the vents
may have on performance.

Got vents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HENS TEETH BELOW..

..and after a thorough clean and bit of plastic conditioner..

I can't show them beside the 931 panel because the panels are away being worked on as we speak!

Watch this space........

I would be grateful if you would PM me the details of the German company who makes the GRP wings, please.

Here's Patrick's company's url http://www.944er-teile.de/ He has quite nice products available (931 grilles etc).

Marek's company in Poland (Germany?) can be found from herehttp://teilecar.com/

Edit: Change the correct url to that polish company.

Thanks Olli. I have been aware of Marek/Teilecar for a number of years and it is the company who actually make their GRP panels what I am trying to contact. I presume that this is Patrick?

Patrick Wolf runs 944er-teile, while teilecar is some other company that is completely unrelated. I should know as I spend every other weekend in Patrick's workshop.

Thom, does Patrick make GRP panels? I am asking because I am about to buy a couple of pairs of wings. A good while ago Olli mentioned that Marek/Teilecar's panels were actually made by a friend of his, so I would prefer to buy them from their source.

Hi Simon,
Patrick does not make GRP body panels himself, but he has many used wings in stock if needed.

Simon, contact Patrick. As Thom wrote, he got wings available. I have made deals with Patrick over a decade, never problems with him.
Polish guy Marek does not make GRP parts himself. I have somewhere a address to a guy who actually make these parts; have to find that address. Only problem is the language barrier, he only speaks/writes polish and at least for me it's impossible to understand that, i can just poor finnish, swedish, english, french, german & estonian [:(]

That's six more than most UK oiks

PS I have a 924 turbo badge panel (no vents) and non sunroof roof skin for sale. Offers invited [:)]

Thanks Olli. Cookie issues prevented my making an earlier post where I regretted not speaking much French or German, and no Finnish whatsoever...

I must say that your command of English is superb, and the occasional small misunderstandings have been my fault for not speaking clearly. I would be grateful if you would forward the fellow's details when you find them.

Amazed... I didn't think I would actualy get the vents I ordered from AutoAtlanta as the (standard looking scripted) email I
got weeks ago suggested they were waiting on more being manufactured, but I got a felling it would never happen. So I paid a
small fortune for a used set I was lucky to find on ebay.de.

To my surpise, a little box arrived the other day and there was a brand new set of (repro) vents inside!

Here they are here!! The difference is night and day between a 30 year old (genuine) set of vents that've probably been half
way to the moon and killed a few million flies in the process, and a brand spanking new set, made less than a few weeks ago!

Look at these!!!

Unbelievable.....!!!

The AutoAtlanta items are (poorly) injection moulded crap and look like the flashing was trimmed by a child with a blunt edge.
They are flimsy and rubber like too. LOL>>! and that cost me $75 plus the customs invoice I don't yet have.

Still not got my nose panel back from bodyshop yet, a busy man..it'll come around soon I hope.

Jeez they are shit. At the beginning of your latest post I was about to give up sanding and painting mine in favour of the reproductions ones but not if they look like that. I need to pull my finger out and get on more with mine as the car is due in the paint shop on the 5th.

(still busy trying to fix the gearbox oil cooler)

Yeah.. stay well clear of the reps! They are utter utter crap. I think AutoAtlanta have a bloody cheek vending items in that condition.

Well look what happens.. they get a bad review, now anyone reading this thread will not buy them.
