944 DME Project

Still rebuilding the turbo engine but the lux has been doing the rounds and I've covered a lot of miles now. Going to get a wasted spark kit for it over xmas and have a play with that. Then going to get a set of modern injectors and do some fuel economy testing. The system is working really well on the lux. Still not managed to get it on the dyno though.

If all goes well once my turbo is back on the road the system will be fitted to 3 944 Turbo's (including mine) early next year for a trip to the ring and Spa :) in April.

Just a little update, my lux has now covered about 2000 miles with this system. Still not hit the dyno yet, but I did get round to fittting it with bluetooth :D. Can now live remap in 3D over bluetooth.... My turbo engine should be rebuilt in the next day or so and then is off to be fitted into the car with its rebuilt TT and LSD gearbox. Not long now...

Should be fitting a wasted spark kit to my lux next week when I get the custom HT leads. Everything is working well with bluetooth and 3D tuning application working great. Just built a timing light that connects to the ECU so that you can setup TDC perfectly on every engine (although I doubt there will be much variance in the teeth/TDC signals).

My turbo should be back together soon, allways takes more time than you think... I will be making the changes to support the turbo fairly shortly.

Edit: Also hooking up an LCD display for showing things like AFR, Coolant Temp, MAP etc :)

Tom - I know this was mentioned as a phase 2. I might be interested in a product for an S2... I'm sure there will be some benefit from ditching the AFM [:D]

I hear yah, might have to pick up a decent S2 at some point for development (and to see what all the fuss is about...[:)]).

....you hear that Tom.....[8|]

...what I was going to ask Tom, is, are you aware of an ECU control where the ignition will not spark until the starter motor achieves a crank speed of 300rpm?

Maybe its a myth, but it would be nice to have an engine that sounded more sprightly when turning on the starter, and started quicker. It should be easy with lower compression.

Hope this finds you well

I don't think thats true, I'm not sure the engine on a lux ever makes 300 rpm on cranking. Certainly not if cold or with a low battery. Mine starts pretty quick, but it slightly depends on where the engine stops in relation to the TDC pin. I am working on a smart algorithm that should let it start up even quicker though, we'll see how that works out.

Hi George,

Never fear, development is going well. I'm spending my time at the moment working on the tuning software after feedback from recent dyno sessions. I have my Turbo back now as well so I am finishing the reassembly at the moment. Once I have that up and running I will be making the changes to the code required for the turbo. Due to my recent efforts at restructuring the code the changes are pretty much configuration changes rather than code changes. Which is great as it reduces the testing requirement as 99% of the code remains un-changed.

Sounds very promising Tom [:)]
I suppose you have at least three customers here in Finland waiting for a Turbo version....

UK & Ireland launch 2012, I hope[:)]

Finland / Scandinavia (with unique SFAF - scandinavia flick assist feature[8D]) 2013

sorry Olli [:)]
