Main benefits to it are getting rid of the dizz cap. I think a pretty good solution is using the coil pack from a golf. Just need some kind of mounting hardware to put it where the dizzy used to go, size permitting. Need to get to the scrappers and get hold of one to try it.
If its a Mk 3 coil pack use something else for they are notoriously (and I mean notoriously) unreliable.
I run a standard coil and the original trigger on my MK3 ABF engined Mk 1 for the reasons above.

After several days on the simulator I have made some really significant progress. Really pleased with the ignition and injector strategies now, the system calculates and responds to changes in fuel and ignition demand every stroke of the engine now. This is really essential with MAP as the manifold pressure rises so much quicker without the air flow meter present.

Funnily enough I searched out this thread last night and was wondering what was going on
Would this work on the S2? If you need a tester, I wouldn't mind
I took an S2 dme apart last night and its quite a bit different to the lux DME. Different enough that the board I have made for this project would not fit into the S2. However with the right information and effort the same could be achieved for the S2 for sure. Might have to buy one and give it a go, I do like the idea of 3.0 litres in a 944 .

Can't wait to see what a professional mapper with a dyno can do for it.
