944 Market

I've had both examples.. An S2 with just 83k on it. Unused for five odd years. Badly stored. Needed lots of work. Sills and floors and paint, brake and fuel lines, belts. And pump etc.. Then I've had cars with over 120k in amazing order. It's all down to how the PO has kept it. Buy on condition (been said before I know). Lower miles the better, but buy the better condition car, it'll cost less in the long run!

Cars should never have had a mileometer. A Service Due meter was all that was necessary There is so much drivel spoken about mileage, its maintenance & condition that counts

Just been reading through the later posts here. I'm certainly going to treat my sills (not long repaired) to dinitrol treatment over the winter. This time last year my Turbo S was a daily driver - never drove so well as being used every day. I even went to work and back in it today ~ 60miles. I'm a great believer in working on/replacing bits BEFORE they go wrong, particularly well documented/ classic jobs for example brake/ fuel lines, sills, etc. I left my rear brake lines/fuel lines for a long time before tackling them ~ 4 years ago - when I did pull them off I was gobsmacked/ mightily relieved I had done, the smaller fuel line (fuel return) fell apart in my hands. Wouldn't have been long before it collapsed completely. Happy winter jobbing all ! Chris

Anyone know how many of each type of 44 there are left? I know that less than 500 original quattros were taxed last year although we reckon there maybe another 500 SORN.
