944 Mileage Poll 2009

My 'S' was born October 87' and has covered 152,350 miles, only 7,254 miles per year!!

Owned her since Oct 01, been a bit of a garage queen up untill last year, now get out and drive when ever I can.

77 votes so far is a very good number for our lil' ole' Forum. I wonder how many we will get by the end?

And the biggest category is 125-150k. So; where have all the cars with approaching 150k 5 years ago gone, and where did all these cars come from?

either clocked or scrapped! People need to stop breaking 944's for parts and start restoring them or there will soon be none left.

My S2 has done 167K and still runs but has a to do list as long as your arm (most urgently for the MOT)

A fair amount of the cars from the last poll have moved on. Newer cars joining this forum tend to be owned by the people who like this particular forum. I'd guess that a fair few of the older and leggier cars are now either scrapped, or owned by the sort of guys who don't stick around this forum for long. How many times have we seen someone join with a long list of questions about their £500 e-bay car, only to find it broken or sold after a few months! [8|]

This month's new Register member's cars mileages read as follows:

145K, 228K, 146K, 74K, 69K, 107K, 173K, 72K, 95K, 66K, 197K, 57K and some undisclosed.

That's half of them under the 100K mark. Club members and forum members are more likely to be enthusiasts who've researched before buying, and tend to be the ones with long-term cars. I'm not surprised that so many are low-mileage (under 150K [:)]) and aren't clocking up a high mileage every year.

I'd been thinking the same thing [&:] and wonder if I've made a slight faux pas by not using the exact same mileage categories so we could draw a direct comparison.

It's early days but already there seem to be a lot more cars with lower mileage on the clock this time, read into that what you will. Here's a link to the last poll, and I've put it on the first post as well for easy location.

If you tot up the results as equivalents you do see a slight shift to higher mileage;

miles 2003-6 2009
000-100 139(37%) 23(29%)
100-150 184(49%) 38(48%)
150-200 45(12%) 12(15%)
200+ 8(2%) 6 (8%)

hard to read too much from it as original poll seems to be over 3 years (?) mostly proves I have too much time on my hands right now
