944 Register Dyno Day 7th May 2005

After last years successful Dyno Day at Jamsport in Northampton I am organising another one at Weltmeister in Silverstone on Saturday 7th May at £30 per car

I'm going over there on March 14th so that we can make up some adaptor pipes to quickly attach their boost gauge into our piping so that we can get a reading of boost pressure throughout the rev range. Air fuel ratio will be measured via a clamp on the exhaust pipe and they can also provide intake temperatures too

For our money we will get two plots; one showing the raw figures at the wheel and one showing extrapolated flywheel figures. It is sounding a very professional set up and Allan has assured me they have more cooling than anywhere else in Europe with a complete air change every 3.5 secs [90,000 cuft/min]

All I need now is for people to confirm that they can make it.

Over to you chaps......

update: 05.05.05

WE HAVE THREE SPACES LEFT

So far I have 35 944 confirmed for the 7th May, and I'm going to list the confirmed names below. If your name is not on the list, you haven't confirmed that 7th May is ok ( or I've somehow messed up so let me know again [:D].

Surely you would beed to drill and tap the IC to put probes in before anybody will be able to get inlet temps, won't you?

Can they do aircharge temperatures either side of the intercooler.

I am sure they 'could', but it would mean dismantling the pipes and placing sensors inside or drilling as Fen mentioned. There simply won't be time to do that on a block day like ours [&:] In fact, I'm looking forward to seeing them cope with all of us as it is. 40 cars in 8 hours is one every 12 minutes and leaves them no time for lunch []

I've put you down for a place Doug [:)]

Paul / dbewley
We have the probes for intercooler temps but as this is very timeconsuming it is not possible to do on a dyno day I'm afraid.

Regards

Allan
Weltmeister

The day is now FULL

I never thought I'd get 40 confirmed attendees, but we have [:D]

Allan you better start practising the quick turnarounds [8D]

I'll talk to you on the RR day, assuming I can last that long without blowing up another engine [:D] - I won't be ready to even think of ordering until then so there's no rush.

My first ' event ' and 40 944's should certainly be some sight.

Must admit quite looking forward to a decent drive in the old girl.

Looks like Im sandwiched in with the Turbot Brigade but having driven the old girl for 3 hrs + the engine will be up and running and if anything has dropped off on the way then Im in good company [:D]

Definitely no Turbo for me. I went to see the engine today and it's still a bare block (which it should have been 3 weeks ago). I am promised it will be worked on next week but there is no way on earth the car will be running and run in in time for the 7th.

FWD French hatch for me then.

To cheer myself up I'm going to order a KW suspension kit.

Arrrgh that is bad news []

If by any miracle its finished on the 6th May I'll come down and drive it up and down the M5 all day until its run in for you.

At least your FWD auto d'la Francais has un extra gear compared to ze rest of us.

We've had a few dropouts. I've filled the spaces from my reserve list, but I now have one space going spare if anyone else is interested?

I`m up for it Paul

Need to see what I`ve bought []

It`d have to be morning/early afternoon though as I`ve got to be back home for 15:00 ish
