944 Turbo S Saved

The work has continued over the last 2 nights.

First the prepping was finished and then primed.

Then last night the car was painted in Porsche GT3 Meteor Grey Metallic (I know it will not be approved by some but the car is never going to go back to the standard specification or have the burgundy plaid interior re fitted)

Great to see the car in that shape! I seen it many a time looking sorry for itself! Nice colour too.

Always nice to see a 944 saved from the scrapyard, especially in the scheme of a solid refresh. Good work!

indeed nice colour and shine.

what did you do after paint, any sanding or just compound, also what compound out of interest as its worked well!

I was about to buy that Silver Rose from Alasdair. It would have been fun to own the only RHD Rose in Finland. Somehow i don't like the new color, i would like to see it with it's original color.

The owner Steve flatted back the paint then machine polished it up.

I will ask him what he used to flat it back

Not ment to be rude, but changing Silver Rose color to something else and also switching Super Groovy '80's color interior to dull black is like cutting Stuttgart Stallion's balls and change it to be a gelding [:D]
Somehow all these funky Porsche interiors looks good to my eyes. I like all Silver Rose, Special Edition '88 and Pasha fabrics a lot.
How about interior paint? For example some of the trunk area's parts are not behind the carpets. Also some parts of C-pillar are not covered by the side trim.

Olli, personally I agree with you as I have a Silver Rose and have just retrimmed my seats with new cloth.

But this car had all the correct parts removed and it wouldn't have been viable to save it if you were trying to take it back to original spec.

This way another 944 Turbo S is saved from being broken up into parts :)

OK, Martin explanation accepted [;)]
At least it was not painted red... Sometimes i have played with an idea changing my Satin Black (too many of them around here) to Nile Green, which was available also in 1988. Like this :

Back then this color was not so popular. Don't know why, but now it's one of my favourite colors.

I think Steve uses 3m Trizac 3000 grit pads and then Farcela G6 to bring it back up......................great job and as Martin has said this car was going to be crushed, so another one survives [:D]
