944 values..all models

Don't think improved is a word anyone would use for your car Ken, more like factory fresh with extras
 
I saw a 1986 auto with 11,000 miles from new yesterday. It's in storage and used sparingly by its owner. Timewarp condition. Apparently valued for insurance purposes at £30k.
 
Got my club valuation back today :)

It seems the UK values well-modified cars too (Or should that be too, too)

Well, I've always had it insured for a fair sum but as we know you can insure it for £40k and they'll happily take your premium but if you have to claim they'll apply market value anyway - this way at least it's covered for what my premium reflects.
 
I sold my mint S2 for good 5 figure money earlier this year, I was happy , as was the buyer as he got one of the best S2's in the country.

Although going through a few health issues at the moment and in no position to commit to another Porsche I find myself looking at the lower price end of the market when killing time.

Why ? Because the cleanliness, mileage and future value of my previous S2 were closely linked, which, in part ruined the enjoyment of the car, yes it was lovely, but it spent a hell of a long time sitting in the garage smelling of polish.

My next choice would be an early 2.5 with normal miles that could be driven, maintained and enjoyed without the stress of hurting its perceived future value.

At the end of the day even the highest priced 944T at say £25k isn't in the same ball park as the true 'investor' collector cars, Ferraris, Jags, Lambos, surely it's just a highly priced older Porsche at the same price as a new Mondeo or even less than a new Golf GTi or Focus RS.

Would I go out and pay £15k+ for a 944 ? I've had five and a 968, I know what can go wrong with them and what things can cost, I know what horrors can lurk beneath them or within them, even the shiny ones can have issues, so no, I personally wouldn't pay big money again for a 944.

It is nice to get all your money back out of a car after a few years use, even nicer a bit of profit, but if it comes at the cost of being scared to use it or enjoy it to the full is it really a good thing ?

Just had a quick look on EBay, out of nineteen 944's listed under 'cars' not 'classic cars' only one car has any bids on it. The higher priced 'classified' cars are relisted time and again, the average 944's be it lux or S2 are receiving no bids at all as are the scrap ones, the only car getting bids is a late S2 Cab which must have had a low start price as after 19 bids it's still under £4K

Would many long term 944 owners pay double what their car cost them originally ? I am tempted by a 4wd 300+ bhp hatchback that I could use everyday, but I know if I sold my turbo I wouldn't have similar one unless prices dived.
 
Well mine was basically £9K at 100k miles when I originally bought her, not sure a minty condition 100k S2 is worth that yet. For me the question is different to what it was back then, cars like my Megane R26 didn't exist and the choice was pretty much Japanese or the 944. The competition for my buying choice was the RX-7 and the 200SX but I wanted something with an N/A engine. If I had more money I would have bought an E36 M3 evo but those were 25 grand back then. Never really liked the rally reps much so not sure if I missed something from them or not, original Impreza felt like an Escort to me with a stonking engine and 4wd bolted in e.g. a very poor quality weak lightly built car with way to much power, never really got over that perception.
 
I think it would take a well driven 944 to stay with something like an Audi TTRS, especially in the wet.
 
I bumped into a new audi TTRS coming off my favourite slip road from the M25 onto the M40 heading for London..love that road... you can exit it very fast if brave enough around the tight left hand bend, just grip your teeth for the dip.... As i was accelerating onto the M40 I saw this TT shoot past in the outside lane moving at some speed...i won't go into figures...:) so like you do i went a little faster to catch him, it was then i noticed the RS...he went faster still... I shot past just to let him know he was wasting his time....well it would have been rude not too....:) they may be fast up against some cars... personally i found it to be a little wanting...looked nice though... brand new, all white with the red RS badge...I wouldn't claim to be a top driver...I just happen to have a rather powerful 944T...:)

I had the TTRS PLUS and there wasn't much that would keep up with it.

Isn't a stage 1 remap around 400 bhp ? Not keen on the Haldex system but I think there's a different controller that gives them more RWD bias. I'm sure a similar power turbo Like Pete's would stay with one in the dry, but in slippery conditions I wouldn't be so sure.
 
Nice one Paul, get a user and don,t get too fussed about miles, get it right mechanically and use it, if it picks up a trophy here and there so what".........that said I know you too well and you cannot help yourself........rebuild [:D]

Hi, was offered one the same spec but a non sunroof car last night for £1250, good cheap 944's are still out there.

I can guarantee you Paul that car will not be the same as mine. If that car your are viewing has Fuchs like mine they are £1,000 a set themselves!

If it does id snap it right up.
