944 wheels - Your pictures please

I'm upgrading my suspension in the near future so will take the opportunity to change my wheels at the same time. (The car is a '91 944t with ABS)

The choices are:

1. 17" Design 90s (The late ones with the slight dish on the rears)
2. 18" 3.6 Turbo split rims (originals preferably but will consider the split rim look as these are half the price)
3. 17" Cup 2
4. 17" turbo twist
5. Something else I haven't thought of or seen yet

The car is a solid black and will be lowered a little. I'm also wondering if its worth colouring the wheels? Maybe matt black but am not sure if that will look too aggressive?

FWIW, I'd like to keep the wheel as light as possible but as it's not a track car, although a light wheel will be beneficial, it will not be the deciding factor.

Anyway, can people post pictures of their wheels to help me (and others in the same position) decide what wheel to choose? Maybe this can be a 944 wheel picture thread of some sort??

I dont think there is such a thing as 17' D90's, only 16's, can you post a picture? Personally I would stay away from 18' wheels, Porsche dont recommend anything bigger than 17' otherwise damage can occur, also ride will be rough and IMO they look wrong on an older car. From your list I would go for Cup 2's, can look cool in black a 'la rpm's 944 'Club Sport'.

I love black wheels, and have 16' 993 cups on my S2 in satin black

I don't agree with the stay away from 18" wheels. Off course there reto fit. And Porsche did release a statement. But many older 911 run 18" wheels, which requires a added brace on the steering. Iv had tried every wheel size 15" 18" 16" 18" 16" and I'm
Now running 18" again.

993 cups are nice, I fitted a pair. But they require large spacers and new stud bolts. A lot off added expense and effort, plus spacers carry just as much hear say as 18" wheels.

17" cups are prob best bet, looks and ride and sercuty

But I will be fitting number 2 when the right pair come up at the right time.

Not a fan off turbo twists or any off the boxster wheels on a 944.

There was a pair of 17" d90 on eBay? But I didn't check and was surprised 2 see them, as I thought only 16"
Existed, but there's also been a set off 18" cups as well which are a 17" Porsche wheel. The large sizes if correct are most prob after market.

18" Sport Design - run for 9 years with no problems they are in the garage at present - might sell them

Here's something a bit different ,boxster s wheels ,they don't exactly go with the 944 lines but i like them and they are also lighter than all of the above including the 16's.

Cup 1's for your car. Fuch will not fit, do not fit later wheels they do not suit the 944. IMO [;)]

I'm quite a big fan of most BBS wheels. The 18" Sport Classics II's are probably a bit excessive for a 944. So, I have settled for the next best thing, which is the 17" Sport Classics, originally from the early Boxster. They fit right on, but I have added some spacers to the front to bring them out a little. Very light weight, which is always good :) pretty much the same as D90s I believe.

Had them powder coated in dark gunmetal sort of colour...

Another vote for Cup 1 s got them on my S2 look good easy to clean and match the car colour as colour coded to paintwork.
